Only 2 weapons have the potential to counter them in their ranges, trace rifles and glaives. Trace rifles should have never been changed to special. They have the 2nd slowest special ttk next to glaives and require 100% accuracy with none of the benefits like a shield. Drop the ttk to 0.77 or 0.8 and make them primary weapons again. We are talking about a 0.04-0.07 shift in ttk. That's how bad they are and close to primary ttks. As for glaives, they are practically useless right now. Range is side arm range at best and easy to miss with rather slow projectiles (even after the buff). The shield won't protect u from 99% of special weapons, but the absolute biggest tragedy is the time to get a melee kill. It's slower than ur normal melee. This giant spear can not kill faster than ur fists. Making it objectively worse than just running around carrying nothing (if that was an option.) Think about that if u had a choice to go into crucible with literally nothing or a glaive ur better off with nothing. I bring these up because I said they have the potential to counter the two meta choice. If trace rifles were primary, they would have the ttk, mag size, and ammo economy to fight peak shooting. Given that they have roughly the same range as a hc, it is a good alternative for players who don't like HC. While hc still remain strong requiring only 3 crits better AE and easier flick aiming. As for glaives simply allowing them to 2 hit melee would fix everything. Allow them to be able to properly punish shotgun users who get to close and miss their OHK. Fusions smgs side arms, all other close range weapons would be fine seeing that they can remain outside of melee range. It's not OP since a shot gun can still win if they hit the OHK. Otherwise, the only counter to a shotgun melee is a shotgun.

                Nah bro, apparently smg’s and auto rifles are still busted. God forbid we have options in this game. The streamers want everyone to be hand cannon players.

                  • Grind for a master arms recluse with sway reduction and high cal. Pair with a good primary slot shotty. You're now a sweaty 😘 390 pules rifles with good rolls like headseeker/ high cal are also pretty useful in my experience. If you like 3v3s, then try your best to stay with teammates; if they die, then rotate back, link, and you'll win the majority of games. Try a different super out. I still main arc on warlock even tho it's nowhere near as good as it used to be, but I have a 1.75Kd with my super. For a heavy slot, I'd suggest a light machine gun cause you can get up to a 4-5kills in one go. Prosocuter auto rifle with target lock/ high cal is disgustingly good. Make sure armor perks are supporting the damage types of the weapons you're using. And last but not least, watch streams of top tier players and watch how they menuver. Best of luck to you, my friend. Even as much as I hate it the game is always changing.

                    • Handcannns have been around for ever , yes Bungie make sure to keep HC’s relevant. They are easy to use , high aim assist , hardly any flitch and can map . But it’s destiny and there is a whole load of crazy weapons to use. I began my journey in destiny pvp 3-4 years ago after getting bored with pve . My I was lucky to get a few kills per game . Just practice practice practice. Pick a load out and stay with it non stop in pvp and pve till you know your weapons , learn the maps to the point of not thinking about what you are doing . Anyone can be good , most the people who play are literal robots 😂

                        This is legit the normal. People cry about any weapon that isn't a shotgun or hc till they get nerfed then they realize "Oh god another hc meta!" and it stays for about a season than for about 1-2 weeks it changes and repeats.

                      • In most of my recent Iron Banner matches I mostly saw autos, scouts, and pulse rifles, on rare occasion somebody had an Igneous or Midnight Coup but those and other Hand Cannons didn't seem very common. It isn't prenerf HC/shotgun meta, before shotguns and HC's were nerfed they were a lot stronger and those were the only things people would use, both seem far less common these days, haven't seen a Felwinter's Lie anytime recently what a good Sniper I mean Shotgun. The easy wins are teamshoot groups that gang up on you with Autos, Pulses, and Fusion Rifles, those groups would stomp me and my teams in Iron Banner, I had some good matches though.

                      • Snipers could probably come back, but hopefully not quite as strong as there were there for a while. There's some pulses that could be a little more consistent across skill levels but that might just increase the hand cannon type of issues. Some of the autos and smgs feel like they were blessed by telesto. Don't really see how those could possibly become any more of a factor and it be a good thing. Fusions aren't an answer to anything if people think shotguns are a problem because then a lot of the people that are good with shotguns will be able to use basically the same playstyle but be lazy with it and also sometimes hit at sniper range. Sidearms should stay like they are. They're not super skillful but they're kind of like shotguns in that you do get better with them from using them and getting used to how the matches play while using them. People are going to use the weapons they like when there's a wide variety of viable weapons. A lot of people really like using hand cannon/shotgun and there really shouldn't be anything wrong with it at this point. Smgs and autos are by no means weak right now and the only change that would take place if top tier players had to use them would be a ton more whining and everyone getting mowed down by whining top tier players using auto rifles.
