"Activate the Ahamkara Skulls with Taken Energy"

I wasn't expecting a Playtest Preview to stealth-drop new lore, but here we are. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_zUYhy6UnE This is part of a Nightfall Strike, and there are considerable implications for the presence of Ahamkara within the Pale Heart. They've had a tendency in the lore to appear wherever the Traveler has visited, since they popped up in Sol after the Traveler arrived, and the Ana Harmony, another race blessed by the Traveler, drew upon Ahamkara Wish Magic to fight against the Hive in the "Books of Sorrow". As to why they are in the Pale Heart, there are two possibilities I think are likely. One is that these are Ahamkara skulls the Witness has collected over the eons, and has set this Tormentor to guard over, including the truly massive one the Tormentor is standing on. The second is that the Ahamkara are native to the Pale Heart, and the Witness has had to exterminate them as it corrupts the Pale Heart. They might even be the in-game reason why the Dread were created - the Ahamkara can't use the desires of an enemy against them if they're an army with no will of their own. While "The Unveiling" is an allegorical work that reflects the Witness' ideology, the Ahamkara and Worms are both alluded to in the book, as the "insects" and "worms" that "feed on what was and what might be" in the Garden. If it turns out the Pale Heart and the "Garden" are the same thing, we're in for some major lore for Ahamkara within the Final Shape.

Bungie never said Unveiling is an allegorical work that reflects the Witness’ ideology. Bungie said you shouldn’t take the flower game section 100% literally, which the book itself explicitly stated the events it’s describing didn’t happen exactly as it’s portrayed. “Once upon a time,* a gardener and a winnower lived** together in a garden.*** “* It was once before a time, because time had not yet begun. ** We did not live. We existed as principles of ontological dynamics that emerged from mathematical structures, as bodiless and inevitable as the primes. *** It was the field of possibility that prefigured existence. in the perturbation of the field that was the garden before the first tick of time and the first point of space—were the detonations that made the universes.“ So if you don’t dismiss it entirely out of hand, it seems self explanatory. The Wish Dragons are there because that is the Field of Possibility that predated existence. Their initial origin point. The domain of the Gardener. Where creation/recreation can happen, which is what the Witness is attempting to do. And didn’t Veil Containment lore explicitly state that the two powers were once United And run parallel to the natural forces of the cosmos? “Osiris: In simpler terms: the Traveler's power runs parallel to the forces of nature. Gravity, magnetism, sound, light. The Veil does this too. It is synchronized with the Traveler.” “Osiris:….But it did reveal one intriguing possibility... that at one time, they may have been... united. Part of a whole. Nimbus: Whoa! So, wait... does this mean the Light and Darkness... were the same once? One force?” One force one source. Also lorebook Inspiral points out that to have a Garden you need to wield a knife to cut the dross and make order: a direct allusion to the concepts of Gardening and Winnowing are tied together. So Unveiling, Inspiral and Veil Containment all say the same thing. Then combined with Clovis Brays journal? I know some have a strong dislike for Unveiling but y’all shot yourselves in the foot dismissing it out of hand.
