You've sunk to a new low Bungie, you outta be ashamed of yourselves
EDIT: Eververse is for cash transactions between the player and Bungie
Inventory is for interactions between your character and the game world
I am upset because Bungie pulled a sleazy marketing trick by putting an ad for a cash transaction in my inventory when it belongs in Eververse
Why?
Here's the nuts and bolts
Bungie puts T shirt ad in Eververse:
Player sees ad
Player decides they don't want to buy a T shirt
Player ignores ad and continues playing

Bungie puts T shirt in inventory
Player sees ad
Player decides they don't want to buy a T shirt
Player goes to delete ad because inventory space is important to them
Player can't delete ad because Bungie programmed ad to be undeleteable
Player reads description telling them to go to Bungie.net to redeem
Player goes to Bungie.net to remove ad from inventory
Player tries and tries to remove ad from inventory but there IS no way to remove ad
Player gives up and begins to look at merchandise
Player is now more likely to make a purchase
Player may even begin to justify the purchase
"Well I guess it's pretty cool, and I get my inventory space back"
This is why it's in your inventory, not in eververse
This is why you cannot delete it
This is how Bungie increases the likely hood of making a sale
EDIT: I just want to clarify what I am and am not saying
Bungie is in the business of making money, I get.
After finishing VoG a screen popped up saying 'Congrats, you beat the raid, go buy some crap from Eververse' -that's fine, show me the ad, if I wanna buy some crap, I go buy some crap, if not I hit X and the ad goes away.
Same when I got the Vex, screen popped up 'Congrats, you got the Vex, give us $8 and we'll make it silver' -that's fine, I wanna pay $8, I get a silver Vex, if not I hit X and the ad goes away
But This, This is something completely different. This is crossing a line. When you collect the "T SHIRT UNLOCKED AT BUNGIE STORE" triumph you receive an item that goes to your inventory that tells you to visit Bungie.net to claim your reward. This item CANNOT be discarded. You can no longer carry 50 items in your inventory. This item holds your 50th inventory slot ransom until you go to Bungie.net and buy their shirt. This is NOT a simple ad screen between activities, this is we're going to impede a function of your game, the game you pay $100 a year to play, until you buy our shirt.
You want to put an ad after an activity, great
I get an exotic and an ad pops up informing me I can buy an ornament, fine
But hindering my game play in any way, even if it is 'only one inventory slot' is not OK in my book
Keep the gameplay seperated from the cash shop! I should never lose game features so Bungie can sell more T shirts. Period
The shirt does look cool, but that's not the point
Thank you

It does leave a bad taste in one's mouth....
-
1/50th, two percent of your space, get over it. Can’t believe the upvotes this got.
-
This private company, that sold me a game, for money now has the gall to try to sell me more things for money? Why aren't they just giving me everything for free?
-
I wish they’d let us have the damn shirt for free, they make enough money as is
-
Funny thing is that i’m sure some people bought the shirt just to remove it. The hoarder, perfectionist, completionist crowd.
-
I’d be surprised if it being seemingly permanent was intentional. More likely an unintended bug that you can’t dismantle it or just acknowledge it to make it go away. I can’t understand getting so offended that you take it as a personal slight. I’m sure it will get addressed and resolved soon.
-
I hate pop ups pushing you to the store. Most irritating thing in ftp games these days.
-
It takes up 1 slot. Do people really not have room for this? "Its the principle of the matter" It's Bungies world they can fill your inventory with used tooth brushes if they wanted to.
-
Oh no... what ever will you do with the other 49 slots.. who cares! I'm sure it will either be patched out or after MoT is over it will dissappear
-
Yes. Thank you! Absolutely no reason for it to be taking up a consumable slot in our inventory.
-
He's got a point. Even tho it's just one teensy space in your inventory it is annoying. Should definitely be able to delete it into oblivion. And there is also nothing you can redeem under rewards. At least I didn't find it in mine.

Stupid Bungo
-
Be thankful if that’s how big your problems are in life. Could be a lot worse.... Do people really buy stuff from the Bungie store?
-
I still have my t shirt promotion item in my inventory from 2018's MoT. Yeah, I can delete it, but no.
-
“Why should I have to go to some outside app….” I swear there is simply no pleasing some of you. No matter what they do, they are always wrong….
-
I’ve been playing this game for years now. HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS MAXING ON INVENTORY SPACE?? Who cares if you don’t want the short don’t buy it. I sweat this community will complain about anything and it’s filled with toxic people that are just not good at games. This is the ultimate casual game who cares!!

Edited by TheShadow: 12/12/2021 10:19:28 PMI'm waiting for when they start advertising in their cutscenes. Edit: See, I don't care for excuses that many will come up with on this forum, or what game/company is worse than others when it comes to advertisement, not even if the game is P2w or how bad the shop is in any game, etc........... No one really cares about other games, they care about this one and what has taken place with many things being shoved in our face that wasn't anywhere near as bad as it is now in D1, including the shop. Bungie has been doing this for 7 years, refusing to give that ( Players choice ) instead of looking for a solution that could prevent posts like this from coming up as often as it does, that is a fact. The solution is to give that players choice, meaning the option to remove things like this if they want to or not. It would literally solve the dumb arguments on this forum. So in all, this is all on Bungie for refusing to give that players choice no matter what anyone believes in or not.

Bro just buy the t shirt Jk they’ll fix
-
What activity gives you the item, that you can exchange for a t-shirt?
-
That's very aggressive marketing. I'm not surprised, so much happened since the reset of last year. The game is still in conversion, and this motivation is just another "instrument" of many more to come. It's not right, but "right" does never exist in this game since a long time, ex- and internal, that is very clear since the last few days.

Edited by Avelithe: 12/20/2021 2:33:05 AMThat and the controversy regarding their employees has put SUCH a bad taste in my mouth the likes of which has never been felt or seen. My disappointment in all regards is insurmountable. I will not buy anything more from them. —An irate customer.

It will probably stay until it bores a hole in your brain. That's their intention. Desperation. 😂😂😂
-
Must be on Xbox .. if I press X it goes away but I purchase it 😂
-
What is worse, imagine if they start doing this with everything you can earn, to buy. Your inventory will be full up with offers instead of in game items you need to play.
