Games been out 7 years come September.
If it were me, I'd 100% expect things to have been phased out, altered, or redesigned.
A single player game I could understand but not a live service... and especially not Destiny.
The gameplay you may not get back, but if you want to know about story stuff, there's a ton of videos on YT that could catch you up.

Considering you had to pay for it back then, that's at least $100 of content removed and another live service game I play only phased out one content during its 11 years from 2013
