Honestly I don't get all the vitriol. People HATED vanilla D2 weapons, absolutely HATED them. Now people are pissed that they deleted them, because they are coming back.
Old weapons, with fixed perks, most of which are not very good anymore. The valuable weapons have already largely been brought back, but no, people want largely worthless weapons to come back for, reasons.

The issue that people have is not the loss of their weapons but instead the fact that Bungie straight up lied to everyone.

It isn't a lie if it was considered necessary at the time. Things change, mistakes get made; this is not a new occurrence.

I'm not defending -blam!-, I'm using logic. The game isn't the same, the dev team isn't the same, the hardware isn't the same; as I said, things change. Do people snap their cap like this when they find out their parents lied to them about Santa or the Easter Bunny too?

then logic would dictate that everyone feels lied to. why do they feel lied to? because every indication showed sunsetting was permanent. Bungie lied to everyone. That's why they are pissed.

Yes, if people are operating under the delusion that the game is static and hasn't changed at all in the last, what, 3 years and change since "sunsetting" occurred or that Bungie is secretly capable of accurately predicting future events (which some apparently believe since I've read posts claiming that the Final Shape delay was deliberate and nothing but a Machiavellian ploy) then by all means be pissed.

So basically what you're saying is that Bungie was to dumb to realize that their game isn't static and things might change in the future. Yet they still came out with a statement saying that sunsetting would be permanent even though the game isn't static and this might change.... It's pretty laughable that a company full of game developers that are technologically knowable wouldn't be able to realize that their hardware might change and be upgraded and thus being able to revert sunsetting in the future. Yet they still came out with that statement as if they were those people operating under the delusion that the game is static. Simply put. Bungie lied without having to do so. They should have known the game wasn't static and there was a possibility that sunsetting would be reversed in the future. They could have easily come out with a statement back then saying that sunsetting was nessecary at that time but potentially could be reversed in the future. Doing so doesn't lock them into a statement that now turned into a lie. Therefore I think I would be good if they reversed the deletions. I'm 100% confident that they still have the data of most people's weapon deletions as long as their game data still exists. -
I'm done with this ridiculous discussion. If you and anyone else that feels slighted over the loss of guns that are half as old as the game itself want to continue with this crusade, have at it.
