Will My 3rd Party App Get Me Banned?

I’m working on a 3rd party app for a Destiny 2 overlay. This is using the Bungie API exclusively. I have no concerns about the content I’m making (static bounty trackers, fireteam member loadout quick view), but I have concerns about how it is displayed. I’m using WPF to put a transparent noninteractive window on top of Destiny 2. Would that type of a window set up get me banned? I wouldn’t imagine it would since I’m not touching anything to do with Destiny and how it runs on my machine (such as graphics card data, exe files, or memory. Exclusively API calls on par with DIM), but I’m not sure if the exact positioning and transparent background would flag anticheat or anything. The few live tests I’ve tried with it didn’t flag anything, but I want be safe rather than sorry. • In general, no, unless you attempt to hook it into the D2 process. Bungie aren't really forward with anything besides generic statements about things potentially being ban-worthy, so in regards to overlays you need to go digging for them
No one is being banned for third-party applications that try to inject overlays like Discord, XSplit, OBS, RTSS, Shadowplay, etc.
https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/237891797?sort=0&page=0&path=1

Going to BattlEye’s site, it doesn’t look like just having an overlaying window would result in a ban:
I’m using the software XY while playing my game with BE enabled, is it allowed or can I get banned for it? Generally we only ever ban for the use of actual cheats/hacks or components of such hacks which are designed to intentionally bypass BE’s protection. Otherwise you don’t need to worry about getting banned. For example, non-cheat overlays and visual enhancement tools like Reshade or SweetFX are generally supported unless desired otherwise by the game developers (the latter two are currently blocked in PUBG, Fortnite and Islands of Nyne). We might decide to kick (not ban) you at some point for using a specific program (such as macro tools), but that won’t automatically flag you as a cheater.
So at this point, all I need to know is if Bungie cares about a window over a window using only API calls.

      • Very dangerous to put an overlay on top of a game window...
