TLDR: Deserters are negatively impacting ability to progress and play within competitive crucible, implementation of some compensation for deserted teams would be beneficial.
In slowly working on getting Luna's and also doing my Thorn void kills in competitive matchmaking, I've had many instances in which teammates desert our match. Not only is this making it harder to accomplish the goals I'm trying to accomplish, but it's severely punishing my teams and I as its almost always a guaranteed loss if we lose a player. At the rate this is occurring, I'm afraid I won't be able to hit Fabled for those quest steps because of the Glory losses.
My thoughts on what could be done to fix this? Obviously you can't just turn off the Glory penalty if you have a deserter and lose, as that can be abused by fire teams. However, maybe just remove the function to desert in competitive altogether, as you should be committed to your team in that match. Or have a big penalty for those who desert.
I don't know if this is a problem on console, but it has happened a few times in the several matches I've partaken in today and yesterday on PC. I definitely ain't the greatest PvPer myself, but this isn't helping my case. I just don't want to be punished when I lose teammates that can't be replaced.
