My username was removed following yesterday’s update. Was it a mistake?

I had the username Saint 14’s Jockstrap for over a year with no problems or complaints. I logged in after the update yesterday to see a pop-up alerting me that I was now Guardian5296 and that I had a name change available. Was my username mistakenly changed? Is there a way to recover/appeal my old username? Did the terms of service update the list of profanity to include “jockstrap”? And adjacent to that, is there a comprehensive list of words to avoid? Answers are most appreciated, especially if I need to consider making a new username.

You can try a different name if you have not previously changed it.[/b] If the system is not allowing more changes, there is no way to override it.
