I truly hope so. Maybe in a few years? Laws are changing fast.
-
My understanding is that game developers/publishers have until June 20 to make the necessary changes to their games. Either that or simply pull the game from Belgium.
-
You can't go to jail by breaking a future law.
-
Only think they need to do is remove loot boxes and charge for direct purchase of eververse items
-
Oh deer bungie better duck for cover because if it won’t be loot box’s that will getting them in the shit it will false advertising have fun with warmine
-
-
they should go to prison for the nightfall drop rate of the ship this week. 29 nightfalls and no ship
-
Gotta say, the thought of Luke Smith behind bars made me chuckle a little.
-
statute of limitations would not apply retroactively in that case so they would not face jail time

Edited by Swiftlock: 4/27/2018 6:08:13 PMThis doesn't mean anything. Overwatch bypasses gambling criticisms in China by changing how the store works. Instead of buying loot boxes, you buy a small amount of credits, then get some loot boxes as a "free gift". You can guarantee that Activision will have a loophole to get around any sort of policies that lawmakers try to push.
-
No. That's not how the law works.
-
Something tells me that there are worse things they can try to sell in a game than loot boxes.
-
Not a chance. One small market made a change, that will be (if not already) challenged in court. Since most of their games predate the change in law, even if enforced, they (and all companies) would be allowed time to make changes.
-
You're lucky stupidity isn't illegal. Lol.

Edited by AAAbuser: 4/27/2018 4:55:12 PMNo publisher will face jail time over this, but it's a significant sign that the movement to push back loot boxes gains momentum - and that's good. Video games have been highly profitable even before loot boxes, the whole casino aspect that's built into each and every game of the last few years is based on nothing but pure greed. I always find it laughable when publishers argue that they need to ensure a continous revenue stream to keep supporting the game. Right, because the revenue from the 10 million units you sold doesn't suffice to support a game for 2 years, gtfo...
-
Doubtful. The sheer amount of lawyers they have will save them.
-
Lol they own the best lawyers
