Help me finish my Psychology homework

I'm having trouble coming up with a reasonable answer for this question on my psychology homework. Anyone wanna help? 16.) Two kids, a guy and a girl, go to prom together on the suggestion of a mutual friend. Both are extremely shy and aren't very good at conversing. After prom, they don't have a conversation for 7 months other than the occasionally greeting to each other in the hallway at school. After a period of awkwardly avoiding eye contact for a couple of months, they start the "saying hi in the hallway" routine. Does a relationship between the two seem likely?

  • As a psychology student myself I can tell you that these students are suffering from a severe case of bullshit.

This would be my answer (recognizing I know little about psychology): A relationship (assuming this refers to something more than just friendship) between the two does not seem likely. While they share some common traits, they appear to have very passive personalities; they only went to prom together because someone else suggested it. The fact that they did not speak for seven months afterwards would also imply that neither of them is very interested in the other. Thus, their common traits along with their shared experience at prom could easily lead to a friendship between the two, but nothing more.

    • Bro, I only took a 5 month general psychology course in college and even I can tell this is fake. Just tell her she's got great breasts/legs/ass/hips/whatever. Bitches love being objectified

The -blam!- kinda psych question is that? If you're gonna ask for relationship advice, just ask for it. Christ. Also, no, a romantic relationship is not likely. Because they're both being a couple of wusses. Best you can hope for is being acquaintances.

      • Yes and no. Maybe they stopped talking because she didn't like the guy they way she thought months ago, or it's just that she wasn't able to talk to him. It is still very possible as long as they keep talking to each other for a while.

Yes. They both like each other and will eventually start to talk more because of their shared shyness as a common bond. I'm used to be quite shy myself and had a similar experience in high school. After getting to know each other a bit we hooked up and dated for about 6 months. Sadly it didn't go past finger banging and hand jobs.

      • Nope. Not likely she is to shy and the guy is a -blam!- for not having balls to talk to her.

      • Prom night would have been perfect to find out what the other person likes and it would have been a good start. Both of them failed. Both are shy. One of them needs to break that shyness once in awhile in order for that relationship to go further.

      • Ehh, just roll with it and see what happens. If you're both that kind of introvert, I doubt you'd just be in it solely for the sake of having a girlfriend, and with that mindset a relationship in school might not even be a good idea since you don't know where anyone will end up, where they'll live or what they want to do with their life. Maybe make a point to try and get more familiar with them, but for the most part I wouldn't worry about it. Worst case scenario, you'll have a good(and all too valuable if you aren't good at conversation or small talk, etc.) friend.

      • Psychology Hw my ass Seems you both still have feelings toward eachother. All you need to to is converse with her more often. If you feel it'd feel awkward then prepare a topic as well as possible follow up remarks

      • Yes. Over time it seems as if they are slowly, but surely opening up to each other.

      • 10/10 for originality 3/10 for courage to just the question (im not your mother you dont need to make a "this friend of mine..." type situation) 4/10 for it being a plausible psychology question (the question would have been too vague and incomplete to answer in a scholarly way) 8/10 for making me chuckle Averaging to a 6.25/10 as your final grade. Honestly though it sounds like shes just as worried about talking to you and not screwing up as you are with her. Just go talk to her and act as though it's not awkward. Worst case you're back one step to pretending not to notice each other, not like it can get that much more awkward than what it is.
