Silence is the first thing you notice as your vision enters a dark room. The space is noticeably bare except for a single bed against the wall, a table next to it, and a chair against the door where a Titan is dead asleep.
On the bed rests a sleeping Laurentine, his hood still firmly around his face, leaving a small hole for air. His body is partially contoured into a ball shape for warmth and his good hand is outstretched towards the table next to him where his Ghost rests.
James sits in a broken state. His now dulled red shell is in several pieces and lying in a cluttered heap around him. His core has a large crack running along the middle and the central eye is nonexistent, only small fractures of glass remain. Despite all this, as you draw closer, his eye lights up faintly. Small blurs of unfocused light pass across James' surface before it stops and shifts slightly to look at you. You feel your vision being pulled foward and beginning to black out as James core flashes one last time before everything fades away.
You are suspended in a black void, unable to move or sense anything. A flash of light catches your attention as a slideshow of quick moving still images begins to play infront of you.
First, several photos of a tall man appear. His dark brown skin, emerald colored eyes and serious demeanor make him look like a tough guy but his smile washes away the serious tone immediately. He is seen standing on a balcony of sorts, looking out towards a dark purple landscape, either looking at you or off in the distance.
Next in the set of photos is a medium height female figure. Her stance is solid and stiff as the various Queen's Wrath colors shine off her armor with an ethereal might. A photo later, she is a beautiful, laughing woman. Her skin is a deep blueish purple and her eyes light up a vibrant green. She is seen on the same balcony as the man but focuses more on you than the view.
The photos then transition into a few snapshots where the two are embracing and laughing. The motions indicates dancing, flirting, and general happiness.
The photos then turn to a bleaker color and the edges begin to burn slightly as the couple's expressions turn to anger, hatred, and unhappiness. The woman is seen in her Queen's Wrath armor more often and the man is beginning to scowl in each frame. Then they begin to walk away from each other, frame by frame, the photo between them beginning to tear and distort. Soon the images splits in half and smolders to ash, disappearing entirely.
Then the photos return, this time, just the woman, her face is warped in pain as she is strapped down to a bed, other Awoken scrambling around her. The photos quicken in pace then suddenly disperse as the scene climaxes to a scream. Then the cry of a child.
The photos return and the woman is holding an abnormally tiny baby in her hands. It's body is a deep black with a translucent blue overtone and it's eyes are beady and a vibrant emerald green. Its crys are small and strained as it reaches around it for something to hold.
The woman's expression is first horror. Then realization. Then sorrow as she cradles the crying child, tears streaming down her face. No longer from physical pain, but a broken heart, one which she thought mended long ago.
The other Awoken around her, on the other hand, still express horror and began to talk amongst themselves. They leave the woman alone and spread a deep dark cloud around them, rumors. The woman is soon suffocated in a cloud of darkness she does not realize.
The photos then transition to the woman nursing the child to health, feeding him, caring for him, loving him. She genuinely seems happy once again. The child grows slightly, signifying some passing time and begins to get healthier.
Until they show up.
Several figures, clad in the Queen's Wrath colors, approach the woman and speak with her, point at the strange abomination before them. The woman reacts angrily and holds her child close, demanding something. The Queen's Wrath make a grab for her but she manages to avoid them.
She begins to run, the child crying in her arms as the long metallic tunnels around her constrict her, choking her off from escape.
At the last second, she manages to board a vessel's cargo hold and flee. Far from her home. Far from everything she knew. She fled deep towards the center of the solar system, stopping at each planet and hitching rides to a place she never visited but heard a lot about. Earth. Her last ditch attempt to save her child.
The photos begin to move at a fast pace as they show a beautiful scenery as a ship touches down and lets the woman and the child out. The woman looks visibly tired, with large bags under her now constantly watching, bloodshot eyes. She walks around a town nearby, asking people for something, many of whom turn her away or ignore her entirely.
She finally rests at a bench, cradling the slumbering child. Her eyes constantly scan the crowd for something as the day passes by.
As the sun begins to touch the horizon, a great commotion russles the woman from her daze as several Awoken fighters zoom overhead and make for an open field. Her eyes go wide as she quickly makes her way to the opposite side of town, fighting the crowd. The Queen's Wrath guards make their intentions known and place a bounty on the woman's head.
People begin to point and call out where she is. The woman moves quick to avoid being caught but gets stopped by several burly men who grapple her and keep her from moving as the flag down the nearby Awoken guards. She struggles against their grip and tries her best to keep the child in her arms as it begins to wail loudly.
Her eyes dart around one last time for any glimmer of hope and they rest on a familiar figure. He is standing a ways off, his emerald eyes are hazy and dazed from several drinks, but he is looking at the scene with a puzzled look on his face. The woman's eyes light up as she screams a name.
"LAUREN!!!"
The man's expression changes to surprise as he begins to rush over. "Lira?!... Lira!"
"LAUREN! HE...!" Her voice leaves her as the baby is pulled from her grip and she focuses her attention to getting it back.
"LIRA!" The man, named Lauren, yells as he charges forward. He quickly stumbles forward and falls face forward. He tries to get up but falls again as a gunshot roars through the air. His head snaps up to see the woman falling to the ground, matter and blood flowing from her head as a guard put a round into her head before turning their head towards the crying child.
Lauren's vision shrinks down to thin points as he watches what just happened. His blood boiled in his veins as everything became painted in a film of red.
"LIRA!!!" He screamed loudly as he rushed forward. The guard barely had time to react as Lauren's fist connected with the visor. His next blow shattered the guards shoulder as he tossed them aside and quickly moved to the next. The photos warp into a twisted red scene as Lauren quickly tore the adversaries apart before fading to black.
The photos return and show the baby, crying and flailing around on the ground as the rain begins to pour on him. He tries to reach for his mother but can't find her and he is scared. Dirt cakes his body and blood pours from an open wound on his foot. He feels alone and scared until something picks him up.
He reaches out and grabs the shirt with his tiny hand. He notices it's not his mother's. He opens his eyes slowly to see a large man hovering over him. The large emerald eyes gaze down at him as the man gives a saddened smile. Streaks of red cover his brown skin but begin to wash away with the rain.
The man leans his head against the baby's and sighs. "You lucky little guy... You must be scared..." His voice is slightly slurred but gentle.
The baby begins to whimper and cry at the stranger. The man cradles him and whispers. "There there Laurentine... it's ok baby..."
The baby whimpers and babbles a bit.
"Yea that's right, Laurentine, it's your daddy. I'll take care of you, make sure you are ok."
The photos begin to fade away to darkness as the man continues to talk.
"I will keep you safe... for Lira's sake..."
