Please, enlighten me.
Even the names are almost identical, and some of you actually believe that Battlefront was a completely unique IP that didn't rip off Battlefield?

There is no doubt that the majority in this thread have never played the PC exclusive Battlefields.

Because atleast Pandemic gave a shit about what they where developing. They are very similar, but Battlefront had some unique perks that made it feel different from Battlefield in many ways like heroes mode, space battles in BF2, the maps were big enough instead of being gigantic like the ones in the battlefield games, the bot battles where very balanced, despite having a meh campaign in BF2 it was ten times better than any of the Battlefield ones, instant action gave players a chance to make their own playlist and go from there, Galactic conquest was a fan-favorite mode that everyone loved, and much more. Are they very similar? Yes they are but despite Battlefield being the inspiration for Battlefront, Pandemic made a much more engaging version of it with the Star Wars IP, fans of the IP got what they actually wanted in a Star Wars game featuring the main soldiers of the series with a lot of stuff to do around instead of waiting on a queue to join a match with randoms. People wanted the reboot to be more like Battlefront because everyone loved those games (inb4 they weren't masterpieces for their time), hell most didn't want a battlefield reskin not because they didn't like Battlefield, but because of the publisher behind it, EA. DICE is an amazing developer, but with EA -blam!-ing them every second one will wonder how different can battlefront be instead falling into the cash-fest scene, and if this beta proved something is that it isn't even a battlefield reskin at all, the main reaction from fans is mixed, The reboot is very different from both Battlefield and Battlefront and the consensus is that many love this reboot, many hate this reboot, you can actually see how much detail went into making feel cinematic with the gorgeous graphics and beatiful sound effects and how much went into actual the gameplay experience with horrendous maps and unbalanced game modes, the game reeks of countless dlc packs coming soon and im not saying they shouldn't do some extra content, but with the huge lack of variety in certain areas it is proved that if you want the complete experience you'll need to pre-order and pay for every single piece of dlc that EA will release. Battlefront is gonna sell like hotcakes, but everyone who wanted something similar to the old games don't deserve to be treated differently because the huge portion of bungie.net disagrees, maybe what they actually wanted is the sense of fun with an awesome star wars game with loads of stuff to do instead of making a game that only has few things available for them like multiplayer only modes and a survival mode with a notorious player Cap of two players only (seriously they couldn't let more players join), in the end we got a game doesn't feel like the old Battlefront games and neither as a battlefield game, even the battlefield games gave you more freedom than this reboot.

Since you could take Down an atat with a snowspeeder just like the movie!
-
Many of the features that were in the Battlefront games were not in the Battlefield games. These features set these two franchises apart, even if they had strong similarites. But now the new Battlefront dismissed these features as outdated content, and map the gap between Battlefield and Front even smaller.

This is just my opinion but comparing hardline the newest installment not the greatest they feel very different in gameplay. In AT-AT in the final moments when the walkers are almost there but the y-wings are coming in for a bombing run, I fell the excitement rushing through me as I see snow speeders trying to pull down the walker and crashing tie fighter and x-wings hurtling down in flames, While we push through the trenches trying to break the rebels line of turrets and disable the uplinks

Edited by Bluefoxx3: 10/10/2015 11:20:06 PMEvery time I play the beta, I can't help but notice it's more Battlefield than Battlefront. Battlefront 1 and 2 felt like Battlefront 1 and 2, not a Battlefield game. It felt so cool to fight on Iconic locations like Bespin, Tatooine, Naboo, Endor, The Deathstar, etc. I never once thought the original Battlefronts were like Battlefield. Battlefront 2 just made everything better with the addition of the Clone Wars, alot of players still play it on PC today. I will say the reboot is incredibly gorgeous on the new Frostbite Engine, on Hoth you can see your weapon starts collecting snow over time as well as on the characters themselves. I like the fact that they're using the theme from Shadows of The Empire during the results screen. Walker Assault is somewhat fun and it's unique to the game, the escape pod game is just the typical Capture and Hold mode which I don't like to begin with. At least it's showing one unique game mode that you won't find in Battlefield. Battlefront 1 and 2 were class based shooters in true fashion just like Battlefield, the reboot isn't, instead the maps are filled with power ups which is just stupid and can only be picked up once per player and you have to wait til power ups respawn. No space battles, no Galactic Conquest, and no server browsers.
-
Battlefront 1 & 2 were there own class based Shooters.
-
Well duh....why wouldn't they be similar? The first Battlefront game was following on the success of Battlefield 1942. EA back then decided to keep the same basic format of gameplay probably because they knew it would work. Obviously there would have to be some differences (such as weaponry, combat, modes, maps, etc) because Star Wars is a completely different setting than WWII. EA was also smart to include playable heroes and villains from the Star Wars movies.
-
The only similarities was the class system.
-
Battlefront 1 and 2 didn't feel like Battlefield. It really felt like its own thing.
-
Just because games have similarities does not mean they play the same or feel the same. The old battlefront were similar in the fact that they had large-scale warfare but other than that they were quite different from battlefield. It's just the feeling of the game
-
Idk why people expected a sequel. Like its not swbf3, its a reboot.
-
This one was made by the same developer. Of course it's gonna kinda feel and look like a battlefield game. They play so similar and so different all at the same time. It's fun though, idk what people are bitching and moaning about. I'm convinced gamers will just bitch about anything just to bitch now days.
