The video will explain how aim assist works

https://youtu.be/BbIKt8mS1ns
I need to explain why players think snipers are overpowered and need to be nerf to the point where snipers can no longer get any kills.
A lot of players are asking for nerfs that help them from being killed by snipers; like adding sway, adding more flinch and reducing aim assist.
Just because you don't like getting killed by a sniper doesn't mean you should have the reason to have sniper nerfs.
Let me tell you this, when you expect something to go a certain when and that sudden change of things you expect to happen don't go your way, you remember it stays in your mind.
It is called conformation biased. A lot of players who ask for nerfs are being conformation biased because they only remember getting killed by a sniper not when they steamroll 20+ snipers with or without their supers.
Snipers in destiny are progressively getting worse with each weapon balance update. No other type of weapon has more nerfs than snipers. Bungie has nerf multiple things from snipers, like res snipes and nerfs to its target acquisition. The nerf to range and damage drop off. The snipers zoom nerf and the nerf to quick draw. The snipers having less ammo and the nerf to 1000 yard. Snipers getting nerf will prolong a problem for beginner snipers and that's what most players don't notice.
The maps in destiny cater for close quarter combat and using snipers as battle rifles is literally the only way snipers have a chance in this game. To use a sniper as a battle rifle isn't easy but at the same time give snipers a chance to stay alive in a bad predicament.
Maybe you should try using a sniper and see how hard it is if you believe it's an easy weapon to use. Sometimes the problems aren't so big if you give new things a try.
Hopefully next time you play crucible is best to not run in front of a sniper and rather just run a flake around a sniper or to not challenge them at long range. It is your own fault when you shoot a sniper straight on and he or she survives and kills you. Do not say that i put so many bullets into a sniper and they should of died because that's being conformation biased.
I hope that bungie, deej, cozmo, and the rest of the destiny developers can appreciate for what sniping has become and for not what players who dislike it believe it to be. I hope you guardians have a nice day.
kayla out
Edit: bungie has always implemented fair flinch. There is no need to add more flinch that is all.
Edit 2:You only call for a nerf when a person beats you by exploiting a flaw in your strategy. So look back, see what you did wrong, and fix it. Don't bring everyone else down cause you keep challenging a sniper that even when they flinch wouldn't die and yet implemented no changes to your strategy. If someone is good then rise to their level and don't drag them down to yours. Sensible advice.

THIS VIDEO HAS A IN DEPTH EXPLANATION ON AIM ASSIST ON SNIPER RIFLES
Please cozmo reply to this post and let this player know that continues tweaks to snipers isn't going to solve any issues with the game. I think snipers shouldn't be punished anymore for the remainder of destiny 1.

Edited by X-LoganX: 8/11/2016 12:15:23 PMTLDNR for people. OP learned a new phrase this week. "Confirmation Bias" and is using is as the basis of the argument. OP doesn't want snipers nerfed but wants Doctrine nerfed for the same reason some want snipers nerfed. Hypocrisy OP doesn't take other people's experience and opinions and only replies with their new favorite word (see above). Even when people provide stats and evidence of how wrong the OP is. OP tries to quote things that are claimed to be Bungie systems but cannot or is unwilling to provide proof. When confronted claims "well of or was a problem they would have said something" OP runs 2 toons with 1KYS and NLB has 50% special kills but does not admit to being sniper bias. Keep down voting and stop replying. Get it off the front page. Edit add: almost forgot. The OP will resort to attacking your skill when there is no more argument and tell you to stop playing dos games.

Welcome to the internet. People will always complain about anything here. The developers probably take little consideration from cry poasts, and actually listen to people who break down their opinions with evidence and logic. as for this thread: TL:DR
-
My only statement in this: If people get mad about shotguns being used effectively at long ranges, then why are people also not mad that sniper are used effectively at short ranges?
-
All they have to do is make all the scopes long range on the snipers, yes it sucks that the maps cater the short range encounters. But that doesn't mean that a sniper should be able to headshot me while I'm pegging them in the head. Which happens to many times, if they gave the scopes more range and took out the shorter scopes then it would elongate all the problems and only the people who were actually good at sniping and did it the right way would continue to strive. So many people snipe because it's easier to get a kill without putting yourself in harms way.
-
You went full idiot stick by stating snipers are the most heavily nerfed weapon type, did you forget about AR's, PR's, HC's, shotties or the king of all nerfs the fusions? I don't like the nerfs or this rotating shit meta, next time you learn a new big word do us all a favor & -blam!- off.

You are so wrong about snipers being nerfed more than any other weapon type. So wrong in fact I'm not wasting my time explaining it to you. Just read all the weapon balancing patch notes and then come back and tell me how snipers have been nerfed the most. I'll bet you can't.
-
The fact of the matter is that every friend that I have that's a pro with a sniper goes to the lighthouse every week. Although, I can whip their ass if they don't have a sniper in hand. I have up to this point refused to use them as I think they are extremely boring, and I can give two shits about going to this magical little place in the sky. But I can truly see people that are skilled with the only weapons that require true skill (primary weapons, you know the ones that take more than one quick scope shot to kill), being really frustrated with secondary weapons being used as primaries. So I will say to you like I say to everyone else, if you think you're so skilled and that a sniper is not doing the work for you, use a low rate of fire auto rifle and sidearm for a few weeks and maintain a positive KD,. Then you will prove you have some skill, but I bet you can't do it.
-
Getting sniped from fusion or shotgun range, explosive and HCR doing nothing to make them flinch, flinch in general, all these montages of people mid air 360 head shot and you don't think sniping broken what so ever?
-
All they need to do is remove the high af aim assist. Make people put in a little more effort.
-
Just because you don't like getting killed by a sniper doesn't mean you should have the reason to have sniper nerfs.
This right there is 95% of the reason there are so many nerf post that are out of control on this forum. If Bungie actually made weapons that can compete then there wouldn't need to be so many nerfs in this game. I don't see the logic in nerfing certain weapons because they are used the most and it's entire category. As everyone knows there will always be gamers asking for nerfs and that mean anything on how Bungie has treated this game is far game. Soon gamers will be asking to nerf sprint when ROI comes out...
-
I mean at this point with all of the rebalancing and tweaking they do they may as well MW2 this game and make everything broken so then that way no one has the right to complain
-
This^
-
Buff primaries and high calibre rounds instead
-
Snipers only? Nothing can save you in PvP but your skill. So, get good, noobies :-)
-
Just lower the base aim assist of all snipers and everything is fine...For a one shot kill from a trigger; Shouldn't be so easy to use
-
Snipers have gotten touched twice. Look at fusion rifles. They had gotten nerfed 5 or 6 times before they got a single buff. If you think snipers are in an ok spot right now, I agree. Fundamentally they are fine. Just if I'm peppering you in the dome with a primary, you shouldn't have a chance of killing me. It'll fix the sniper rifle's risk/reward complex, which IMO leans heavily toward reward. Tell me, what risk is involved chilling behind the fight, picking off people as they run across?
-
Nerf to rez snipes? They buffed them so that even more snipers can rez snipe now lol
-
I honestly wish to know, how can you defend snipers when snipers can consistently enough get that crutch headshot on you as you're shooting them in the face. I want you to answer that honestly. You think that's balanced? Its not. I don't care about aim assist, but flinch does need adjusting. Also, nice bait.

Edited by Mav: 8/7/2016 1:32:06 AM
Just because you don't like getting killed by a sniper doesn't mean you should have the reason to have sniper nerfs.
This was the reasoning behind the SS nerf.
Snipers in destiny are progressively getting worse with each weapon balance update. No other type of weapon has been nerf more than snipers.
That is a lie, Snipers are literally the weapons that have gotten the least amount of nerfs. The last nerf wasn't even really a nerf.
Maybe you should try using a sniper and see how hard it is if you believe it's an easy weapon to use. Sometimes the problems aren't so big if you give new things a try
I prefer shotgunning, but i've been using snipers these past two weekends more in trials. Its pretty easy to use. I'd wait at a spot and wait for someone to poke out and dome him. If by chance I'd get a body shot, they shoot so fast I can easily get a two tap on him. Guy charging me? Totally fine, body shot him switch to a primary and finish him off. Just yesterday I pulled off some stupid drag scopes and quick scopes.
Hopefully next time you play crucible is best to not run in front of a sniper and rather just run a flake around a sniper or to not challenge them at long range
Some might find it difficult to flank around them since you have an active radar all the time, they hard scooping one way? Try to flank, they descope, oh radar says they're over here now. Let me adjust my sniper but aiming down this way now. Edit: What they should do is, decrease weapon swap time, decrease ADS speed, decrease weapon movement, and possibly decrease rate of fire. None of this descope none-sense.

Snipers are going to get nerfed in rise of iron they are way too dominant if anything buff primary weapons and shotguns
-
Your post applies to a lot of things in Destiny. How about shotguns, autos, grenades, supers, subclasses, and meles to name a few. I also think getting even is playing a part too. Let me explain. Say a shot gun user or even someone who loves universal remote to be even more specific sees about 50 nerf shotgun and or universal remote posts. So they check out one of the posters. They see they have snipers equipped on all three characters. So they think well if you want to call me trash and nerf my loadout or playstyle ill show you and start an anti sniper nerf campaign. From there on out it's just a vicious cycle.
-
I used to say that about shotguns since vanilla. Shotguns got 5+ stats nerf throw destiny life span. Guess what ppl ((mostly Snipers)) still complain about shotguns even though phantom bullets are present with em. I'm against nerf in general and I'd love if Bungie left snipers alone but that won't happen because shotgun users are salty. This is an old saying were I live and it's dedicated to all nerf callers. "Don't throw rocks at other houses If your house is made of glass"
because of these cry babies Bungie have sucked the fun out of this game. I just hope D2 is more balance from the start so we don't get these drastic changes.
-
Your comment about snipers being nerfed the most is ridiculous and wrong. Shotguns and fusion rifles and assult rifles are the top 3 most nerfed weapon types in destiny.
-
OP is terrible at PVP and is afraid of their crutch getting balanced, not nerfed, but balanced. Getting picked off by a sniper you didn't see or shoot at is not the problem. It's when those -blam!-ers stand there taking an absurd amounts of crits to their face while you are strafing and they still headshot you with a sliver of health left. They need to make Sniper sights go completely off target just like how your sights go way off course when caught in a tether.

It increases the ttk by less than half a second. You can calm down now.
