Actually, after re-reading your issue, and you mentioning Grimoire, you seem to not be talking about Cross-Save but instead bringing your Destiny 1 characters to Destiny 2. Unfortunately, the veterancy import happened several years ago and any progress after that on Destiny 1 would not allow for veterancy import. If your Destiny 1 characters were not available when you first logged into Destiny 2 with the same XBL ID, then those characters were not eligible for import.
