Use the #Flood tag right now. You will see two threads by A 3 Legged Goat, begging for followers.
When I saw these parody threads, I assumed they were by the same horned crippled beast that we all know and love. They probably are. However, after a few seconds of thought, I wondered if they WERENT by Goat at all. I realized that with the new name change, anyone can impersonate another user! I checked to see if I could pretend to be famous users by changing my name, and sure enough, it only took a few presses of the keys before I became Duardo. As you can see, my name is Shoop again, like before.
Still, this problem needs to be fixed. I recommend that each member's display name MUST be unique as well, or even better; their unique ID is their display name.

Not really, I can usually tell by people's personalities. Usually. Unless I'm like drunk or something, like I was in that chatroom with TH3_AV3NG3R.
-
No one would dare impersonate me.
-
Something tells me that the username change feature will only be available for the beta. Choose yours carefully.
-
I'm gonna start stealing burritosenior's followers, then revert back when I'm at a lofty number.
-
You can click on someone's Profile and it'll tell you their original name!
-
I'm very positive that will be the first update. Fixing that problem, that is.
-
Impersonation is the sincerest form of flattery.
-
My advice, dislike the post, and mute the user. They'll never bother you again.

Go to profile Look at Aliases Duardo (Shoop Do Whoop) Shoop (Shoop Do Whoop) Shoop Do Whoop (Shoop Do Whoop)

Right you are OP, this is a big problem.
-
Yep. I made a thread earlier about it today. Up to this morning I've had three people do it. The number has gone up to five people now. People just change their name and avatar with the intent of making you look bad. MY Unique User ID is burritosenior which can't be copied, only usernames can be, but 95% of people won't think to check that so... yeah. It's a problem.

I thought impersonating another member was a bannable offense?
-
Oh Really???

So I might not actually even be me?
-
Yeah, I never understood the purpose of being able to change names here.
-
click the name and look at the unique ID, not the display name.
-
meh, there's ways to see if it's them or not or just an impersonator. Not going to be that big of issue :/
-
Funny thing is that it will show up on their profile forever!
-
I've never seen anyone with my avatar anyway.
-
I don't know, the unique ID when you click their name more or less kills any impersonation attempt. If impersonators become annoying you can just mute them: a truly beautiful new feature.

Should be able to set it like emails, it is completely unique, no one can have it but you, until you change it.
