It's pretty easy to do. You can see how big it is in relation to Saturn's rings during the arrival cinematic for the new Crucible map, The Dungeons.
Saturn's rings are 73,000 km wide. From the cinematic, the Dreadnaught is about 0.07 times as long, and in the same plane as the rings. That makes the Dreadnaught...
5110km long!
That's over 5 million metres.
From other, better quality images of the Dreadnaught, I've calculated that one side of one of its square ends is about 0.3 times as long as it's length. Therefore, that gives a total volume of...
1.2 x 10^10 (12000000000) cubic kilometres!
So, yeah. It's pretty damn big.
Edit:
Obviously, I am not expecting that we will be able to visit even a tiny fraction of this. Just like how we cannot visit all of the Earth, Venus, etc.
Also, I find it likely that Bungie does not actually intend for it to be this big, and instead either didn't realise (or expected other people not to realise) just how big Saturn's rings are. That, or it's just to make it look more badass.

You have it wrong all the way a fallen ketch is the size of 2 football fields at least oryx fleet ships are the size of a ketch and if you put ten fleet ships in a row it's the length of the dreadnought it's no bigger than the UK
-
Bearbeitet von Furry Azzre: 8/6/2016 7:14:02 PMSince the earth is 6,371 km and the dreadnaught is 5,110 km. It could be possible for oryx to RAM earth with just the dreadnaught it self. So why do u go to saturn? Obviously Oryx did not look at all the ways he could destroy take over the solar system. But then again it wouldn't be a game so RIP Oryx's Dreadnaught Died of being too big
-
That would be like the 3rd largest ship in sci fi. The first is the ark from halo (like over 127,000 kilometres)
-
Hey, would it be possible to find the size of the Dreadnought when compared to the Awoken Ketches? First, we'd need to find the relative dimensions of a Ketch. Then, we'd need to compare the size of the Ketch to the size of the Queen's Harbingers. Finally, compare the size of the Harbingers to the Dreadnought. Just a thought! :)

Well, it houses an entire ascendant realm. I personally think it needs to be big. Also, could you give me an idea of big Taken Oryx is?
-
Need 4 experienced players for totem cp MSG me for INV
-
Cinematic and pictures at a angle tend to blow up proportions. Have you calculated the amount of energy it would be needed to move that thing?
-
So it's about as big as the Atlantic ocean is wide?
-
You need vagina my friend
-
Oryx has a HUGE Dreadnaught.
phrasing
-
HALF of it is machinery to travel between dimensions, not to mention universal high speed travel.
-
That is impressive, great to see another dedicated player of the community!
-
We'll have to pay money for the rest of it though.
-
Where's Deej or Cosmo to tell this man he did a good job!
-
Yeah I think bungie just -blam!-ed up scaling wise in the picture and like you said only did it to make it look badass.
-
If he parks illegally, who tows his ship? Something to think about for the next dlc
-
Good job man!

I interpreted the title of this thread as a.. penis joke/pun. -facepalm-

Sorry I'm an American how many miles is that I'm not stupid in math I'm in 8th grade taking Honors Algebra I
-
My only concern is how boring it's going to be aesthetically.
-
I didn't really think about it, but you're right. No wonder it's basically an entirely new world to explore!
-
Who cares what the actual size is. It's as big as Saturn that's all anyone needs to know.
-
That's one big stick and his sword is pretty big too I think he might be trying to compensate
-
Imagine what his "dreadnought" would do to your butt. We all know your not talking about his space ship. Maybe a red rocket.......
-
Seeing that this thread is approaching 1000 posts, this would be the moment when Ogre from Alpha Beta house busts in and yells, "Nerds!!!!"
-
Oryx is compensating for lack of size elsewhere.
