Bungie released their podcast for the month of July. In it they discuss end-game carry culture, the process of creating the beta and a couple behind the scenes nuggets about developing D2.
Outline provided by Reddit user u/WalkerDontRunner:
•(4:54) The progression of the Black Spindle mission and how it inspired loadout consideration and planning. The mission was inspired by Mile High Club from CoD modern warfare.
•(10:08) Reinforced parts of the 'carry culture' where people would seek help and give help. How carrying creates an alliance/community even if just for a night.
•(11:35) Mark's relationship with Destiny and co-workers (Pretty funny anecdote).
•(14:10) Locked loadouts. How they will force the players even more-so to consider their loadouts and pre-plan again or 'pack for the trip'. It was mentioned that it felt freeing once you're in the mission to not swap anything and focus on the misison. Also that it can create a sense of hyper-awareness of every perk, etc. selected. Locked loadouts will be applied to some of the weekly rituals, none specified.
•(16:55) Mark on specialization and how locked loadouts can enforce roles among groups.
•(17:25) Noob Titans will block your rockets with their wall causing you to kill yourself.
•(21:16) They are essentially finished with the 'build' and are now starting to focus on bugs, language related issues, etc.
•Minimal activities in beta for emphasis on player discovery upon release. But enough to test their systems.
•(27:50) Beta is a 'test' for systems, but also testing Bungie's internal processes, INCLUDING closing and launching a game properly. Also PvP balancing, duh.
•(37:40) Destiny 2 reset day has been confirmed to be on Tuesdays. (credit: u/miloshk)
•(38:55) Chipotle life-hack.
