Due to recent feedback asking for a reduction in the amount of Heavy ammo available in Crucible we are issuing a server-side change to the following modes. These changes should be live now!
Control will now have heavy ammo spawn in at 45 seconds and then every 120 seconds. It was spawning in at 45 seconds and then every 60 seconds.
Clash and Supremacy will now have heavy ammo spawn in at 60 seconds and then every 120 seconds. It was spawning in at 15 seconds and then every 60 seconds.
We don’t have server-side settings to change up the new 3v3 Survival mode but do plan to make the following changes in an update later this month.
Survival will soon have heavy ammo spawn in at 60 seconds and then again 60 seconds later just as the tiebreaker objective spawns. It is currently spawning in at 30 seconds and then every 60 seconds. The amount of heavy ammo granted will be reduced to match the amounts in Elimination and the 6v6 modes. We saw a lot of feedback about making heavy one round or being removed but wanted to make sure there was still an incentive for players to maintain map control and not camp at the edge of the map once they have a life advantage. We will continue to monitor feedback on these changes.

I get the thing about not camping the back of the map in survival but currently every round is basically just a fight for heavy... now tiebreaker is going to be too

I am just happy Bungie is aware and is making an adjustment. Hopefully they can fix survival sooner rather than later.

Can we have a playlist where we can have heavy ammo? I didn't play most of Y2 and haven't had a chance to get mountain top. I don't care if you remove it from comp. or only have it for one round.

Sounds good. Me personally. I wish heavy would spawn in survival only once around the 30 second mark of the 3rd and 6th match only.

Or how about this: REMOVE HEAVY FROM COMPETITIVE ALTOGETHER SINCE NOBODY WANTS IT. I don't know what's so hard for you people to understand about this concept. Heavy ammo goes against everything competitive stands for. Heavy ammo spawns turn competitive into a "who has the better spawn" game since it spawns in 1 place only. That's not skill. Being gimped from the other side of the map with an HMG is not skill. Get it together Bungie. Comprehensive crucible changes my ass.

Bring back the old heavy system! Like in D1, just one heavy ammo round per game. It was way better that way

Thanks Bungi for the heavy changes, its appreciated. It would be great if you guys could have a look at fusion rifle kill distance. In my experience using one I can manage to kill people from ranges where Not Forgotten would start doing around 40-45 damage to the head. That kill distance is way too far in my opinion and many others as well.

It’s great that you changed something like this so swiftly upon recent request, but what exactly prevented doing this across the past year when the feedback for reduced heavy ammo was there for so long?

"maintain map control" Is that why there is only 1 heavy ammo spawn, so that the team that first gets heavy can continually beatdown the other locking the other team down from any sort of come back? Heavy shouldn't decide a victory. There should be 2 heavy spawns like in D1 for each team, if one team is smart they could send one person over to the other heavy spot "map control" and take the other teams heavy. This would even things out, and not just have one team getting heavy over and over, while getting their supers quicker in the process. The fact that there is only 1 heavy ammo spawn is a joke and was always a joke.

The problem is not the heavy ammo spawn . Its the ammo drop on kill. It will make the better skilled players able to spam the heavy weapons. It keep give them ammo. Not just heavy..including special ammo. If no ammo drop..people will have no complain. Its stupid to nerf the gun and decreasing the heavy spawn. The problem is AMMO DROP ON KILL If you want fair PVP. Every one should have same amount of ammo on spawn. No ammo drop on kill. That way no one able to spamming heavy or special weapons Then bungie can make heavy and special weapons great again

You know what i miss? I miss heavy spawning once per game, one brick per each team to share and thats it. It worked out that everybody would kill each other on 30-45 seconds, then heavy was gone, but you know what i really miss? Pushing the enemies heavy box with 5 people standing there only to meet my shatter nova bomb and get slayers all day. HEAVY IS NOT FUN.

Fix green ammo! been a problem since D1, unlimited green ammo for 1 hit kills weapons with broken aim..... fusions shouldn't map and slide aping with shotguns shouldn't be the permanent meta, make people aim again!

So what about changes to erentil? That’s almost a bigger problem then heavy as they get 2 easy kills handed to them each time they spawn.

Thank god there is less heavy ammo! A lot of games I only got killed by power weapons and supers!

An all heavy all the time mode would be fun. Or a swords only mode. And CTF. I don’t actually play pvp as I just simply don’t enjoy it in any game really other than CTF and melee only matches.

How about you also balance fusion rifles, spawns, shotguns, bottom tree strikers and matchmaking in solo comp? You know, things you conveniently missed when "balancing" the crucible? The things that were broken before and remain broken now? "Renewed focus on pvp" lol ok. You focused so much that you forgot to actually fix the worst of the game.

Something about PvP special ammo economy and item/skill balance patch maybe? Tip: Do not change all gamemodes at once to prevent downvotes from people who like the current state. Edit: Do not forget about Gambit. Gambit would be liked by more people if they weren't getting destroyed so often by heavy, without a chance to shoot back.
