Square Enix and Yoshi-P just confirmed that you can play the game for free until lvl 60 and Heavensward.
This is a great way to hook people into it.

I used to play a realm reborn way back when it first came out. I had to force myself to stop playing it though. I got addicted to final fantasy 11 online and played it for almost 3 years strait. Had something like 450 days playtime. I missed out on lots of other games during those 3 year and vowed never to waste that much time on one game ever again.

Yeah it's a bit insane. That's 4 years worth of content for free. For context, the free trial before went up to level 35, which is a bit over halfway through A Realm Reborn. You also got access to a few dungeons, and I think 2 trials. Now, you can play up to level 60. Which is all the way through the game's first expansion, Heavansward. It's going all the way to 3.56, which was the final patch before Stormblood (4.0) Now, for absolutely nothing but your time, you have access to all of ARR and HW, which includes at least 1 Dungeon every 3 levels in ARR, and 2 levels in HW, at least 15 trials (most of which have at least 2 difficulties), 2 full raid series (12 instances of mini dungeons and/or a boss harder than most trials bosses), along with the harder savage difficulty raids, 2 alliance raid sets (3 large scale, 24 man dungeons, with 7 encounters each, 4 bosses, and 3 mini encounters). You also get the first 3 DLC jobs for free, Astrologian, Dark Knight, and Machinist, once you reach 3.0 content. And, even if you are like, "well, this content is old and irrelevant", you're wrong. The game, through roulettes, keeps most content relevant past it's normal shelf life. Also, once you reach level 50, you can play Blue Mage, a limited job for which level 60 is the cap. So you can get the rewards added for it recently in this free trial! One of the main complaints with the old free trial was it ended before the combat got exciting, but now with almost double the levels, all the playable jobs feel fleshed out and fun! And if you decide you're not jiving with the class you picked, just switch, there's no penalty. In fact, you get a bonus to EXP gained until it catches up to the level your highest class is.

Does it include the Automata raid? I've put MMOs to rest after putting so much time and money into WoW, but damn if that Automata raid wouldn't being me back...
