the Transportation Security Administration will soon permit passengers to carry some small knives on airplanes, especially since the process that turns checkpoints into maddening logjams -- removing shoes, liquids and computers -- remains unchanged.
The only thing more surprising is the news that they will also allow items such as pool cues, lacrosse sticks and one or two golf clubs
I like this...I like it a lot. :)

Well to be fair, if it's a small knife, they're not going to overpower a plane full of people. I also imagine that it would be difficult to wield a Pool Cue, Lacrosse Stick, or Golf Club in an enclosed space like a plane to the fullest degree.

just because the TSA says ok, doesn't mean the airline says it's OK. for example, it's OK to check an unloaded firearm in a special, expensive TSA approved locking case and fly it as luggage according to federal rules. it also has to be ok with the specific airline policy as well. this is most likely going to be the same way.

Hopefully they will eventually allow me to carry my blade aboard.

TSA not being less strict. It's like a dream. They usually want to -blam!- you.

TSA is lazy as hell. Thats all this is. Lets not do our job and let the passengers deal with getting stabbed. All it takes is one time and TSA is gonna get sued a ton
