Don't feel obligated to read this I'm just sharing my thoughts.
Just a thought, remember forge mode in the Halo games? People are wondering, myself included, if there will be some sort of forge mode in Destiny. Instanced PVP like in Halo 4 would make it entirely possible in Destiny. Bungie could also do it better in Destiny if they added a non-competitive server browser for it. Maybe you go to a virtual reality building to train, like wargames. There could be some sort of a small reward for playing on non-competitive servers, but it's not that important. It looks promising and it would be a bold move to skip forge mode if there is instanced PVP like in Halo 4.
Now imagine this... Upon buying Destiny you are licensed to 2 versions of Destiny, the first is the regular version and the second is the forge version (for lack of a better term). They contain completely separate information: characters, statistics, currency, gear, everything.
Regular version and Forge version; ranked and unranked, public and private.
The regular version would contain everything we currently know and are expecting to receive with Destiny. A massive, immersive, sci-fi adventure across the stars, with space dudes and big guns. A competitive social gathering open to the world (or timezone) where you get into all sorts of fun. That's the idea as I see it anyway.
The forge version would be privatized in comparison and would equire "DLC" from computer based "forging" software. Except, you wouldn't forge a small PVP environment, you (or a team) would forge an entire universe with all of the open worldedness that Destiny plans to offer. The difference is that these personalized universes have to be downloaded and can be entirely different experiences from one download to the next. It's difficult to imagine how gameplay would be impacted with knowing very little about it. It's also up for discussion at what point the customizable experience should stop. With forge mode, Bungie was reluctant to add terrain editing because it increases the file size, thus they kept the file sizes smaller and downloads quicker. A computer based forge mode could hold similar ideals and is entirely optional. It would likely increase sales across the board as game sales and DLC for the regular version would provide additional content for these custom universes that forgers and players experience in their own way.
It would be a massive undertaking. Something like that will happen eventually if Bungie doesn't do it. Maybe it's not something that is meant for or even fits with Destiny. Perhaps it could even be added later. I hope Bungie does something with Forge mode in Destiny. Even if it's just for custom vehicles or something. Hopefully they do the unexpected.
Anyways, I hope I tickled some forger fancies out there. :)
