I think there is no nobler a profession than teaching, but I am disgusted at how poorly society treats them. Terrible pay, no respect, and a horrible regard for their lifestyle.
Why are you okay with the way good teachers are treated?

They get pointless after a while. Why does someone need to know how to factor x^2+2x+4 if they cant even do simple paperwork for a job like that would need such skills.
-
they are ok

it's important

Teachers are usually great. Most are intelligent as well. I think our education institutions need to get the -blam!- out of their way! Pay them well enough that they're not worried about finances and give them the tools and ability to evolve our education system in conjunction with students. I fantasize about a progressive education system with the freedom it needs. The whole world's education system is decades behind. Our schools should be some of the most funded institutions on the planet and it WILL pay off in the long term. There's a pathetic lack of innovation and application in education being adopted by schools.

It depends upon how good a teacher is.

I killed my teacher. That old bastard...

One of my favorite teachers. She's awesome. Teaches in Germany, is using her YouTube channel to refine her English, she keeps chickens, has a sense of humor, oh and did I mention? She BUILT a goddam TARDIS If I was younger, and not married, I would probably emigrate to Germany and stalk her full time. The world could really use more teachers like her.

Bearbeitet von DeclinedA01: 7/7/2013 6:03:18 PMI think they have one of the most important jobs. Thus, their pay should reflect that. Sadly, at least here in Florida, it does not.
-
Bearbeitet von SonOfTheShire: 7/7/2013 5:34:27 PMThe pay isn't that bad. Also, in Nova Scotia, at least, the teacher's union is crazily powerful. It's almost impossible to fire a teacher here!

I'm a Math tutor so I might be a bit biased when I say that they're awesome.

What the hell are you even talking about? You tagged it deep? I need more depth than this.

Terrible pay? My son's teacher makes over 100k including benes and only works 185 days a year. No respect? From who? What does no respect for their lifestyle even mean? From my experience teachers have it pretty good. They have nothing to complain about. - Der

Depends on if they do their job professionally. I like all the teachers I have had so far because they treat you with as much respect as you give them.
-
Some of them are total asswipes. My philosophy teacher though... Absolute f ucking legend <3 But yeah I agree. However, I wouldn't call their pay terrible (UK) and they are, after all, key workers.
-
I think teaching is good. I think teachers vary on person to person. Some teachers are excellent, others are just poor or couldn't give a damn.
-
Good teachers are far and few nowadays. The very good teachers get the respect and admiration from just about anyone they have taught/worked with. The bad ones are why some people tar them with the same brush as a bunch of child hating killjoys. And there were plenty of them where I went to school. As for striking... This is a more UK specific moan btw They do deserve more respect but striking all the bloody time won't get them anything from the parents. It makes kids happy but costs families a lot of money for childcare/day off work. Why can't they go on strike during the school holidays? They say they work through them as much as anyone else (depending on who you listen to) So go on strike when it is more convenient for the parents.

I'm not okay with a lot of things so don't assume I'm okay with anything!!!!
but I am disgusted at how poorly society treats them. Terrible pay, no respect, and a horrible regard for their lifestyle.
My thoughts as well. They get boned, and are expected to teach kids who don't care.
