I feel bad for using the mute button, I'm new on here but the trolls come out of their cave quite quickly don't they? Let me know how bad it can get on here…

I mute with impunity. Especially when I see a spambot, or someone posting rude offensive content. Although I'll admit I do like a good troll thead every now and then.

I have no remorse when it comes to muting and no, I'm not feeling free to follow you.

Bearbeitet von Hylebos: 12/13/2013 5:52:18 PMYou shouldn't feel guilty. Personally I hand out my mutes very easily for a few reasons: 1) I commonly use the "Show all Replies" button when reading a thread. A mute from me doesn't mean that I don't want to read your post, it usually means I probably don't want to read your post more than once. 2) Every two weeks or so I clear out my mute list, giving any hooligans that were going through a phase of silliness a chance to redeem themselves. I'm usually very willing to give people as many chances as necessary, it takes three seconds to put them back on the mute list if necessary so it's no skin off my back. Also as a side note... I recall you asked the other day how to get followers... the entire "Feel free to follow me" thing is probably going to do more damage than good, because it gives people the impression that anything you do you're doing so that you can get followers. Gaining followers isn't really something that happens overnight, just be patient, be yourself, and if people feel that you're worth following they will follow you. Prompting them to do so won't help :)

Bearbeitet von Nitron F117: 12/13/2013 5:51:39 PMBungie recently changed their policies around banning users, and the role of moderators. It's now a more democratic-like system. Users are mostly free to post whatever they like. However, any user can mute you. They don't have to wait for a mod to find the post and ban you. It's immediate and personal. If enough users mute a single account, that account will become globally muted for a period of time. If you are following someone, you will still see their posts, even if they have been globally muted. If you really feel that a post has crossed the line, use the report button, and it'll get flagged for review from a mod, and can result in a ban for that user.
