I hope some people can shed some light on the PVP part of this bounty for me, because right now it is incredibly frustrating to say the least, to the point I'm considering dropping the bounty for the 2nd time.
This is the 2nd time I've received the Thorn bounty on my Titan, and I gave it up the last time because the PVP part was impossible for me to even sniff at completing. Titan void grenades are garbage for the most part. The spike grenade I thought I could use like the lightning ones but it does no damage and people simply walk out of it. Suppression grenades are likewise pretty useless. The magnetic ones are a guaranteed void kill but the problem is it seems 60-75% of the time they don't stick or they only follow a target for a bit before missing completely.
I don't have a void primary and the only void secondary I have is Efrideet's Spear, which just isn't practical to use on most of the crucible maps for void kills. As of right now I'm stuck mainly having to wait on the heavy ammo to use my Against All Odds, which I can normally go on some nice streaks with to build up points. The problem is other wise I get killed 3-4 times in a row and all those points vanish. The heavy ammo just isn't up enough and when it is half the time one teammate grabs it before anyone else can. I just can't seem to maintain a good point balance and it seems like I'll never get this bounty done. I've tried getting it on my Warlock but it is never offered when the missives pop up. Just seems I'm destined to keep getting it on my titan.
Anyone that has done this on their titan how did you do it? Is there really no other way than to just get a void fusion and camp? I think that is just my biggest problem is no void fusion/shotgun and I have to try to basically quickscope with my sniper which hardly ever works out well.
Edit 1: Thanks for all the advice so far. I've managed to get about 36 points through 4 matches just trying to snipe and grab heavy when I can. Hoping I can grab a void fusion at some point.

Camp with a fusion or sg. Blue fusions are totally acceptable. Good charge rate ftw. Don't Yolo run in like a meatshield. Make sure you stay positive. I think the minimum to not loose points is .4 kd. When in doubt, just get the kill. A kill that doesn't count is better than a death that sets you back.
Just got the bounty. Just under 1/2 way there. I might try changing my tactics to go sniper, but I'm not very good
Stay back and pick up kills u can don't go hunting 4 kills and camp heavy ammo I had same prob as u the first time but had the WORST fusion rifle ever and void against all odds just get heavy ammo hide till the kill feed returns 2 normal then try pick off people with it I averaged 50 points a game with this

It was easier when the inferno game mode was out no mini map it was great
-
Word of crota
-
I did it with a hunter just using a void rocket and void sniper. It shod be easier with grenades thrown in there too.
-
Run VoG a few times and try to get Atheon's Epilogue. If you don't want to do that, I highly recommend trying to snag a void shotgun or Fusion. Either of those will make your life much easier.
-
Play Control and a void shotgun. Will only take one small part of a day

Edited by DeusDominus: 3/13/2015 6:01:48 PMThat sniper rifle is all you need dude although a heavy wouldn't hurt.

1. Git gud 2.??? 3. Profit!
-
Lol, it's not like you can just run around sniping the whole game with ample ammo...oh wait :/
-
I just used a void sniper rifle and went round on rumble after a couple of hours I had it done
-
I used a rare (blue) void fusion and magnetic grenade with my defender titan. Took about 2 hours. I'm not good at pvp but this combo helped me get it done pretty quick. Stick with it. Thorn is worth it.

1). Git gud. 2). Git thorn. 3). Git bitches.
-
Hone your sniping game if all you have is a sniper. :b

Be patient

You need to get your hands on a void primary. If you can't get CE hard done, the VOG normal offers Atheons Epilogue which is a low impact auto rifle (not ideal for PVP). Just having 3 void weapons will help your progress. Also, the Praedyths Revenge is one of the better low recoil snipers out there. I have been holding out on mine until I got the Word of Crota which I got last night. I plan on backing that up with the PRevenge/Swordbeaker and the Truth or Deviant Gravity.
-
Use a void shotty(swordbreaker etc.), and a void primary(word of crota)
-
Id recomend void machime gun with high impact and camp that heavy, but beware, once you see the heavy ammo available its rocket time, just wait til they run out their 3 rockets and then go own.

Edited by Gravelord Nito: 3/13/2015 3:18:53 PMWhatever you do, stick with it. It took me 9 hours of crucible straight to finish mine. Glad I did though. I lurvs my Thorn. Did it with a shotgun and a sniper rifle. And I'm garbage with both.
-
Go piss people off with void fusion rifle
-
Hey man, try a void damage shotgun in crucible. There are a few blue ones out there that dont suck too much. Good luck.

Edited by Mejji: 3/13/2015 2:57:12 PMVoid Shotgun? Check. Void Machine Gun? Check. Void Sub-class? Check. Thorn bounty? Done.
-
Try your best to get multiple kills before death. Killing one then dying is detrimental. If you can string 3 kills then die you get 15-2 so 13 pts. Something to consider.

Edited by KaramelKaiser: 3/13/2015 3:00:21 PMControl camping. Also check merchants for any void shotguns or fusion rifle. ANY green blue shotgun/fusion rifle with void will do. I never do pvp check my stats they terrible but i got 50-80 points each game just by crouching (hunter so the cloaking helps) watching my map and camping in strategic locations on control maps. The gun is totally worth it. Wait... you have efrideets spear?... why you having so much trouble getting kills in crucible?

Quit the maps your bad at
