...some people prefer to listen to the Bible over physical evidence. Many things in the Book of Genesis, specifically, are just myth/legends and are not necessarily true. Here's some examples:
World created in 7 days-Geological evidence and observing stellar evolution shows that the Sun took millions of years to form from primordial hydrogen clouds, the Earth and planets took a few million years more to form from leftover dust and gas, and life originated a few million years after that.
All modern lifeforms made with no evolution involved-Clearly not. It would've taken a series of accidents on a molecular scale, over millions of years, to create the first self-replicating milecule of RNA or DNA. It took billions of years of cells forming, DNA mutating, and constantly changing environments for modern organisms to appear. Also, the fossil record shows a clear change over time from older organism to current organism.
Great Flood-Simply put, there's not enough water on Earth. Even if a boatload of comets came down and deliveted extra water, it wouldn't be able to leave the planet, and the Great Flood would've lasted forever.
However, the rest of the Bible outside the Book of Genesis is plausible. I'm not proving or disproving anything beyond the Book of Genesis. Creationists, please consider all the evidence supporting evolution and Earth's origins before you go on rants about Genesis.
And no, I'm not an Atheist. I'm a very devout Christian, but I tend to agree with science, considering that it uses multiple sources (experiments, fossil record, observations, etc.) to support its theories, and not just one book.
