So, some of us were talking in the Xbox skype chat about the new MC Easter egg in Caydes mission where you get the horrible stealth tech. We then came up with a theory that connects Halo with Destiny. Keep in mind this is JUST A THEORY. I'd love to some comments about it.
The theory goes as follows:
Since we don't yet know what Master Chief's final fate is we can only speculate that he returns to Earth, more specifically a Cryo chamber in Russia after the war with the Covenant/ Promethians/ Flood/ Whatever else 343 throws at us. He then is never awoken except on the one occasion when the Ghost attempted to wake him.
When this occurs the Ghost says he mentions a Great War (perhaps the same one mentioned above) but the Ghost also mentions the Guardian is of high light value. That could just be a way of saying the person has done many good things in their life, since the Ghost is an A.I. it would make sense for the Ghost to see it as a numerical value. (This concludes everything we can infer from in game dialogue).
This theory however, is further supported by the races of enemies we face. Each race as we see it is separate from each other (I.e. Fallen are not fighting with Cabal). This is explained through evolution. Its race of enemy (I keep saying race, I should be saying species.) is just en evolved form of an enemy in Halo.
Fallen are the Covenant (without the Brutes of course)
Hive are the Flood
Taken are the Promethians
Vex are unknown (perhaps a group of Promethians that evolved separate from the ones that evolved into the Taken)
Cabal are the Brutes
This can evolution can further explain the Awoken. They could simply be human colonists that evolved separately from the humans on Earth and retreated back into the solar system when the Darkness started to invade.
Now about the Traveler, that one's easy. The Traveler could simply be an extension of Cortana that somehow made it's way through space (perhaps because of the ending of Halo 4). When the Traveler knew it was about to die it created the Ghosts to find Guardians of high light values. This could be Cortana's final effort to locate Master Chief and warn him of the oncoming dangers (of course her plan works a little too well).
In conclusion Destiny takes place hundreds, maybe thousands of years in Halo's future which helps explain why some guns look like they're from Halo and also explains why some enemies and characters look similar to Halo creatures.
Again this is all just a theory, nothing is confirmed. If you have any other supporting evidence or just want to share an opinion then go ahead and do your thing. Now, if only I could write essays like this in school…

We're gonna need LoA in here if you want this to be valid.

It's just an easter egg m8, Master Chief belongs to 343 now.

Nope cuz copyright

I agree with the theory on Master Chief. However, I will have to see him for myself to know for sure.

Cabal fight fallen in wolves of mars missions

While I'm not entirely against the whole "Destiny and Halo take place in the same universe" theory, yours seems very abstract. The Fallen do not resemble the Covenant in any way. They just don't. Brutes being Cabal is a bit more understandable, but if so then how come they retain almost no pre-Cabal tactics/tech? It's understandable that they'd evolve, but not to such extent that they would literally drop everything from before. Vex being an "evolved" version of Prometheans could work.. Some outside entity taking control of the Prometheans (the Collective Mind) and using them until their numbers started to dwindle, then reverse engineering to the best of their ability creating the Vex. Taken are probably something else entirely. Traveler = Cortana? Huhwha? And finally; I highly doubt you "Light level" represents your activities done during life. Rather your ability to harness Light. (did I miss a point?)

If the Flood were the Hive, they'd have to have gone backwards and become more primitive.

I'd like to say that maybe its the vex that r the promethans because they do have a lot of similarities like how minotaurs are a lot like the knights but thats just wat i think other than that i agree with you entirely

The flood would have to devolve to become the hive
-
It shouldn't include Halo 4.

Hive have their own lore. So no. Read the Books of Sorrow.

Edited by Slacker: 9/25/2015 4:00:42 AMThat's rediculous. Don't even associate halo with that -blam!-ing trash please, not even in a theory. Jk op

Last man standing: killbook of a bounty hunter... I suggest you guys Google this book and see if you can see a resemblance in the Titans armor, as well has Hex and the exotic warlocks helm in TTK.
