According to everybody on the internet, you have to hit each weekly Level 7 boss, while it is unshielded, with the Worldline Zero sword.
According to some people, the attack you use NEEDS to be Tesseract. Some say it NEEDS to be a "ground" Tesseract, and not an "air" Tesseract, others say nothing about them or even what the specific differences between the two are (if it starts on the ground, but ends in the air, which of the two is it!?!?).
According to some people, the attack you use doesn't have to be Tesseract, because "their friend got it by doing light attacks".
According to some people, all that matters is that the boss is unshielded when you hit it. Others seem to think that you need to hit the boss in specific places for it to count ("you have to hit that ogre on the back").
Some people say you only have to hit the boss once for it to work, others say that you have to hit the boss over and over and over again until it pops, with no indications whatso-blam!-ingever on how many -blam!-ing hits that's supposed to take.
Some say it doesn't count if other players are shooting the boss when you hit it, some say the boss can't be tethered, melting pointed, or booped when you hit it either, yet if this is true, barely anybody seems to mention this at -blam!-ing all!
So, unless someone can give me an accurate description of what the -blam!- needs to happen for this Catalyst to progress, then I insist that Bungie change it to something simpler, like "Escalation Protocol kills", because having to go through this bullshit each week for 5 weeks straight is just stupid as -blam!-, and the perk is so lackluster that it isn't even -blam!-ing worth it!

After reading all the pains. I am not even going to bother. I just play now to kill shit.

Don’t worry it’s a useless upgrade anyway

Edited by Litwicks_Souls: 7/16/2018 3:09:20 AMOk. Tested multiple things. You can get an upgrade part for the Catalyst with ANY attack. The problem is, you have to do a certain amount of damage in a certain amount of time. Tessaract grants that with ease(except on the Ogre that you must hit on the back, it’s super fücking hard tbh). Normal swing, upper cut worked on that ogre^ And boss can NOT be Tethered. Any other buff is fine.

Shit, I seen the requirements and gave zero shits after.

It's all horse shit and bungo needs to fix it. Should be hit the boss, get the update. Bad enough you have to progress it over a 5 week period, but to have different bosses take different methods and a certain amount of luck is just typical Bungie overdoing it. Has anyone came out and said faster tesseract is the greatest thing and it is OP? It's not worth the rediculous amount of headache Bungie has attached to it. I still need the giant zit on his back ogre to finish and I tried 12 bosses in a row. Couldn't get it to register. From the rock, from the air, normal hits, tesseract hits, over and over until I just couldn't believe it was that absurd.

Never used the thing. It’s rusting in my vault.
-
My experience is just keep hitting it with different attacks until it works. I actually think it is RNG and there is a percentage chance on each hit that it will work.
-
Don’t even care enough to bother.

Edited by XguyExtra: 7/16/2018 12:38:06 AMAs someone that has finished the masterwork for WLZ, let me make it simple for you: Damage each level 7 EP boss with the Tesseract skill to roll a chance to get your progress. It's not that you have to hit them with Tesseract a certain way, its just RNG. If the boss has a shield, you should probably wait until the shield is down. I did all of my progression in 5 consecutive weeks. I am not certain whether doing the same boss 5 weeks later will do anything for you because the item you get looks different for each boss, bu I wouldn't risk it. Do all 5 weeks consecutively to be safe. Also, the masterwork allows you to proc Tesseract within three steps of running, it's over twice as fast as normal.

The grind tasks in this game work like a stupid arcade game from the ‘80s that nobody wanted to play then, let alone now. Do you like slamming your hand in a drawer over and over again? Because that’s what doing these unlocks is like. Lazy, dull, unintelligent design.

Play Destiny Guardians. I hear it's a AAA game that Bungie helped to make. Usually, AAA games get tested and you won't constantly run into bugs/glitches like this which can be very annoying. Maybe they'll eventually bring Destiny Guardians to Europe and N. America. Like a year after Destiny 3 comes out. If you want to play the real Destiny you should check it out.

The actual registration of the sword hit is RNG, just keep hitting him until it drops.
-
lol. but that's half the fun is figuring/not figuring it out. it's just a game, so maybe chill out a little and have fun. try your own methods. or stop. there's plenty of other stuff to do.

Just tesseract the boss a few times dealing damage. The only one that is bugged is the one with the boil on his back. That one is BS.
-
Im at 40% with mine.. All I did was land hits on the boss, lights, heavies, didnt bother with the perk of the sword. I learned that being the only one doing damage to the boss helped in getting the percentage... the last 20 I got I was with a group of randoms, all in party, and I just said "hey.. i need to hit the boss with the sword, can you guys hold off doing damage?" they agreed.. i got my solo hits in, and the percentage dropped for me, and we went about farming. Iv not had trouble getting it done so far. I wish you luck in getting yours working.

What does the catalyst even grant? Haven't even done an EP in a few weeks now so I've never really attempted the chance.
