About the Upcoming Threats and the Story

<At the end of the Destiny 2 Vanilla campaign, we saw a glimpse of the endgame enemy of the entire Destiny franchise, the Darkness. These tetrahedral ships have been slowly built up over the course of the course of D2's DLCs. First there were the mentions in CoO and Warmind (1 and 3 respectively). Then, the holograms in the Queen's Court and the Marasenna entries that describe the Collapse (see Cosmogyre). More descriptions of the Collapse came from the Black Armory Papers, even if it was brief. Joker's Wild upped the ante by explaining what should've been obvious to players at the time (triangles=Darkness, not Vex or Hive so stop) and by giving WAY more hints about the second Collapse that'll happen in the future. However, I've noticed something. While I don't consider it to be a BIG issue as I'm sure Bungie's writers actually know what they're doing when it comes to the ORDER of the story, but I've seen some confusion going around and that has planted the seeds of doubt in my mind. Anyone who's read the lore since TTK knows of Oryx's more evil sister, Savathun. Clever readers would've noticed the shitload of hints in D2 Vanilla, from boss names (Irausk, Herald of Savathun), to the blatant naming of a strike (Savathun's Song). Warmind furthered the build-up significantly by involving real agents of Savathun within the Grasp of Nokris, acting as envoys, responding to a call from the GoN that basically said "take our power cuz our Worm God's dead". Forsaken took what build up we had and quintupled it. Savathun is DIRECTLY responsible for the events of Forsaken's main and endgame campaign by letting Riven manipulate Uldren, by taking control over her brother's Taken, by gifting Quria to Dul Incaru, by sending Dul Incaru to find the Distributary, I could go on. There's even a lore book that's confusing the shit out of players because people don't know whether it's Savathun or Quria. My point is that Savathun's buildup has taken a back seat to the Darkness buildup. You should all know by now that I have a deep obsession with these tetrahedrons, I've even gotten damn good at drawing them, but I've seen confusion spread among the community. Let's get a few points out of the way. - Penumbra is NOT the pre-Collapse DLC the title suggests. Penumbra, while the word does have to do with shadows, is most likely a reference to the Shadows of Calus, Calus being the center focus of Penumbra's storyline. - If we do get a glimpse of whatever enemy is in those ships, expect it to be just that, a glimpse. Calus may have seen the End, but we still have another threat to deal with. - Savathun, bless her, has NO place in D3. D3's events will likely bring us to our lowest point, yes, lower than the Red War. To have us fight her then is an insult to her and to us really. Also, the Dreaming City Curse has to end before the next Collapse. If it doesn't then we're -blam!-ed more than we already are. - D2Y3 is shrouded in mystery, our only confirmation that it exists being the devs saying to another "there's something after that?" "oops" as well as another Annual Pass being in the works. AnontheNine, while his Annual Pass record is impressive, is not an official source. That being said, I'm excited for D3 if his version's true because I want the City and Traveler gone. -The pyramid ships will be introducing a new enemy race (or races). We won't be fighting the fleet until D3, meaning that the wishes for them to be an enemy in Y3 are meaningless. Give these enemies the time to make a grand entrance because unlike the Hive I am not willing to let them go to waste in a DLC. - Savathun, whether you like it or not, is looking like she'll be drip-fed to us due to the second Annual Pass. Don't expect to fight her until the end of D2's lifespan... a true endgame enemy. Bungie, please don't lose sight of Savathun. I love the Darkness to death but the Witch Queen needs to be dealt with within the next year. Take all the time you need with D3, make it the game D1 and 2 were meant to be. It's not my game so I guess this could fall on deaf ears but I genuinely care. The story team can do great things (TTK, Forsaken) and the lore team's always been great, even with Warmind's numerous unnecessary retcons.
<also make more merch for the love of satan, I'd love a replica Mote of Dark or a Darkness shirt or literally anything to do with the Tetrahedral Fleet (Armada? IDK).>
TLDR: Don't let the Darkness buildup overshadow the Savathun buildup.>

 • I’m positive that that Savathûn comes after Penumbra. If we trust the leaks and expect another annual pass model, with the first drop being the biggest of the bunch, than it’s going to be a loong fight with her. I’m very ok with that. Moreover, we still have the end cutscene of D2 as a guideline. It’s very likely that the appearance of the Dreadnaught hints at Savathûn (feat. Xivu Arath) focused content. The tetrahedron ships come after that, so D3 is a safe bet.
