You’re buying a present for someone you know well, and you’ve seen something that you think is right up their alley. Only problem is, they may already have seen the film/ read the book/ got the clothing item etc. as whilst you think it’s a good present, it’s a little generic.
What do you do?
Do you take the risk and buy it anyway?
Do you skip it and buy them something else?
Do you buy it and hope you see something else later on you can substitute it for?
Do you just ask them if they already have one?

Ask someone who knows them better/lives with them if they have that item
-
Why don't you just ask them if they want it
-
Tell them “hey I was thinking of getting said item, what are your thoughts”?
-
Hit them with that “Hypothetically, if I were to get you [insert item], would you want it?” And then you get info from there.
