Meh, not sold on this idea. Destiny takes place how far in the future? Do you really think, after the horrific war that pushed us back to a single city on Earth that any of our current holiday traditions would still be around? Doubtful. On top of that, it'd need to include holidays from around the world, not just the ones celebrated in the US, as The City is all that's left of EVERYONE on Earth.
That said, they might have some days they celebrate somehow, like when The Traveler beat back the darkness, but it'd likely be a somber event. I think it'd take some serious creativity and more imagination that I'm currently having to come up with some realistic holiday events in game (likely coinciding with RL holidays for convenience) that didn't feel cheesy.

how bout you take a sec and realize its a video game and that this could b a fun addition thats what games are about being fun

A New Years event would be appropriate. People in the future will likely have the same calendar, plus it's celebrating another year that everyone's not dead.

Folks would try to hang on to their traditions and religions as long as they possibly could.

video game whats with the hypotheticals even bullshit like WOW has christmas shit probaly

WoW does, Guild Wars 2 does. Many do. Destiny should also.

WoW's holidays are usually slap-stick to some extent and weak comedy, I just think the people in the world that exists in Destiny wouldn't expend tons of time on holidays. Even if they did, which ones? You essentially have the remnants of ALL the world's populations in one city, so it's likely that there would be ethnic communities or people would just celebrate with their friends and families.
