When is it better to fire from the hip as opposed to aiming?
Honestly I've never fired from the hip except for one time someone was way too close to me and I knew my sniper rifle would hit them anyways.
Are there guns specifically better for hip fire?
-
The Monte Carlo is a good example of an auto rifle made for firing from the hip.
-
scout rifles seem pretty good for hip fire. also hand cannons
-
All fusion rifles (for me) seem to be easier to use firing from the hip.
-
The last word gets damage / precision/ stability bonuses for firing from the hip.
-
Monte Carlo is a beast at hip firing :D

Trying to ADS with a hand cannon in close quarters can be the difference between the one shot you need to secure the kill. Sometimes it's better to hip fire 3 shots and hit 2 than to aim and hit 1.
-
I almost always hipfire fusion rifles, and shotguns without bonuses for aiming. Hipfiring a rifle with focus fire can help you get higher DPS in close quarters.
-
Not really. Hand cannons are the best at aim fire. 1shot every time in quick succession

in crucible... its more of a last resort... when there super close and there about to die... i use it here and there when the situation fits it.. but its nothing to use really... at least for my play style.

the last word has bonus damage when fired from the hip other than that there really isnt any reason too. i basically always ADS even when people are right in front of me. except when i use shotguns in the crucible

There is a perk on my fusion rifle that increases hip fire accuracy, I find it aims just as well from hip than down sight. Other than that I've found hip too sporadic though.
