I play as a warlock but when ever I do the VOG on hard I try and bring 1-2 hunters they are quite useful for the gatekeepers I normally solo green and they solo red. Also good for atheon as they can go on supplication patrol.

Ur right on that whole gatekeeper thing, when you teleport to Venus on the right side, hunters can go invisible when the screen starts turning black. You don't have to wait to cleanse yourself, it's actually pretty neat.
