I have seen apparent similarities between Destiny and the Bible in general. For example:
The collapse is like the Fall of Man. The Guardians are like Christians fighting sin. The Speaker is like the Bible itself, since he is sort of like the Traveler's word, and the Bible is God's word. Also, with TTK's recent release, the Darkness closes in, but the Light fights back and wins, which is like Jesus' return. The different factions are like different theological views.
If you do not believe in Jesus, God, or that the Bible is true, please be respectful and do not post hateful comments and just make a fool of yourself. Believe what you want.
I also realize that this doesn't completely align with Destiny's lore, and you need to understand that I am making this understandable for the average Destiny player.
Have a nice day and God bless you.

Edited by ORANGEDRONE: 10/13/2015 3:16:29 PMI think they just got carried away with the story telling in The Bible. The basic concept is similar to other religions. Accept that you are powerless etc. Ask to be saved or lost into the ether of time and forgotten. I'm not one to say anything is or isn't bullshit for absolute 100%. It could be all in how it's been inadvertently distorted throughout the years - to the point where it tends to sound a bit unrealistic in our modern times. But, we live on a ball floating in infinite blackness. Since that fact is true then anything can technically be possible.
-
So my issue with these post (and I am my self a christian) is that if you look hard enough you can make the Bible comparable to pretty much any story/book/movie, it was written that way.

Edited by Schattenjager: 10/14/2015 7:08:16 AMI have seen apparent similarities between Destiny and Star Wars in general. For example: The collapse is the Sith empire destroying the Jedi order. The Guardians are like Jedi fighting the Sith. The speaker is like Yoda himself, since he is sort of like the head teacher of the force. Also, with TTK's recent release, like in Return of the Jedi, the Sith (dark side of the force) close in, but the Jedi (light side of the force) fight back and win, which is like the Jedi returning. The different factions or perhaps the classes of guardians are like the different classes of Jedi (Guardian, Sentinel and Consular). If you do not believe in Luke Skywalker, the force, or that Star Wars describes real events in a galaxy far far away, please give yourself a pat on the back for being smarter than Exotic Antelope and not believing in fictional stories. But believe what you want, if you do believe in Star Wars then cudos for at least believing in a story that is much less morally bankrupt than the one in the bible. Have a nice day and may The Force be with you.

Please refrain from posting this kind of stuff. It offends me. I have no religion and this was one of the few places I could go without it being forced upon me.

Edited by ChaosRecon95: 10/13/2015 3:02:07 PMBungie made the story of Halo to show the danger of religion. Your arguments is false. Destiny would never be about the Bible

Regardless of what people say, there are similarities and I agree and have thought of it. Other examples...when we die "Darkness consumes you", much like when we die sinfully. The light level is our power level...much like our relationship with Christ. The stronger we are in Him, the more powerful we are in the spiritual realm. The different bosses could easily represent the different spiritual demons people face...all monsters, all evil, but different in their own way. Some are easy to conquer and others are a process. Agree 100%, good post.

Edited by iZnth: 10/13/2015 3:01:40 PMThere are apparent similarities, yes, mainly that both are manmade works of fiction.

Yeah, not at all really.

Destiny has a lot of influences and references, but you're really reaching here.
-
Hahahahahaha Omg religion :D go home dude
-
Yay! That's one of my FAVORITE things (sarcasm) about religion. There's always some nut that has to take any given random thing and twist it into somehow being about religion...
-
More likely based off of gnostic and Pythagorean beliefs.

Edited by ZEN: 10/13/2015 2:36:23 PMI guess drawing imaginary connections between irrelevant things is a skill required to believe in any book of made up fairy tales.
-
Edited by SnowBodhi: 10/13/2015 3:03:51 PMI'd say the Destiny universe is more like that of Hinduism. Multiple gods Reincarnation Cyclical universe with no begining or end - time goes round

I would definitely say destiny and the bible are two very similar myths that are very entertaining.
-
Fictional stories tend to sound the same.

Edited by Krunchy: 10/13/2015 2:12:26 PMI have noticed that a lot of my Christian friends like draw parallels between the Bible and anything that could even remotely be similar in any aspect. I'm not sure why that is, but it's a little bit weird to me that you all (you and these friends of mine, not generalizing everyone) try compare everything back to the Bible. That being said, I'm not here to judge anyone. You do what makes you happy. Sorry I don't have any input about further comparing destiny to the Bible. You have yourself a great day, friend.

List of religious references in Halo To go along with another post I made on here... Please note that making religious references doesn't count as an endorsement for a religion, it merely means you find the stories and themes fascinating.

Edited by bLooM_pHaZe: 10/14/2015 6:06:15 AMClearly you are not that smart and clouded...vastly, by your brainwashed perception of religion. Had you grown up in Israel, your perceptions would again be vastly different. Try thinking for yourself. Religious doctrines are merely cannons of control, outdated perceptions of reality...and floating ones at that. Agree or disagree is something I care even less about, but do not use the game as a proxy for your religious BS.
I mean no offense to you personally or your boxed beliefs. Even though I state, "clearly you are not smart" and "Try thinking for yourself", these are not intended to insult you as an individual person.

Proof, that all religions are man made products.
Edited by Bit sad, innit?: 10/13/2015 2:34:17 PMI'm just going to point this out. I am a Christian. But not all Christians are douche bags and bible thumpers and shove it down your throat. I have what I believe in, and you have what you believe in. Please don't hate towards Christianity, and I won't hate towards your beliefs. I don't mind conversations on it, as long as it's fairly civil. So please before you say "typical Christian" or "you Christians are always blah blah blah", I'm sorry that one ass hole dude ruined the rest of us good willed people. Have a good day and please, please....go easy on me in Iron banner? My 305 light says I won't be going easy on you ;)

That's funny, I see similarities between the bible and other religious texts such as the Koran and other even older civilisations such as the sumerians. The bible is not a unique text. It was copied and edited over centuries from older myths and legends then changed by a king in the middle ages to arrive at what we now have. It's not really, get over it. Never trust anyone who only has one book.

Lots of media reference the Bible. Zombie movies origin is based on resurrection etc. Man of Steel. Superman was same age as Jesus. Gave him self to Zod to save the people. StarWars. Vader was born in the womb without the need for a father aka like Jesus. It's not worth getting offended by it.
