Bungie,
I've been absent from this game for the last 4 weeks or so. After the great start to the final shape, the seasonal (episode) model has been atrocious. Nothing annoys me more as a player than being time gated on story content for a week at a time, then getting 30 minutes of pointless filler and back and forth to the helm for dialogue. This model of drip content is killing this game. It sucks the life out of the player base.
Adding back the seasonal power cap grind is just pouring gasoline on a fire. Nobody wants this back. It doesn't even serve a purpose. We are artificially handicapped in certain content anyways, so why even add it back in? Low-level players just get bumped up to mine. And we can't overlevel anything either.
Why not just go with the old Halo difficulty scale? Or do what space marine 2 has done? Have set difficulties that are automatically designed to be of a specific threshold, and them drop rewards based on those difficulty scales. It's easier. It's smoother. It's more engaging because I can CHOOSE to just play a casual mission by myself or with randoms or team up with friends and go into the highest challenges and do that. It lets us feel a sense of progression without RNG farming for armor that holds no real value.
You need to end the long, weeks drip of seasonal content and end the seasonal power grind. I have been debating coming back. Most of my clan has gone from daily players to not being sure about returning. We'll become casual players at most this next season. I'm a top 1% time played destiny player, and I don't want to play anymore. Not because I'm burnt out (which I am a little bit because we taught raids almost daily), but because the direction of this game has taken the fun out of it.
Maybe you don't care, you probably don't. You probably won't read this. But I won't be funding any more cars to the CEO of bungie. I'll play what bits and pieces of content I've already purchased (annual pass - which i regret now), but I am no longer paying for anything in the future of this game. After a decade, I finally have to step back. I've never felt so free as I have during the last month of not touching this game.
I miss what destiny used to be. But now bungie doesn't even know what destiny is trying to be. It's a game with no identity. The devs don't know who they're even trying to make the game for. Pick a f***ing direction and stick with it. Flip flopping like this is just destroying it.

They do appear to care and they're taking responsibility for controlling their game by tightening their grip around the game. Its the kind of leadership people have been clamoring for lately and its the kind of thing that will hopefully make it so that its not worse later on down the road. People wanted foresight and now they're having it given to them. Now they'll have a better idea of whether or not PL is a good idea for the future and if/how it might need to change.
