As part of our continuing mission to bombard the Bungie.next Beta with your better salvos of feedback, we’ve deployed another update. If you take a deep inhale, you can smell the fresh code. It smells like… victory. In keeping with our pledge to keep you slightly briefed on our grand conspiracy to reinvent your home in our domain, a list of the more apparent changes are found below.
First, some highlights for this new version. Here are the fixes we think you’ll be most excited about…
Throw your voice into a specific Forum Category. We’ve added some structure to the party, thus preserving the unique discussion parlors that you’ve come to know and love. Forum Categories are exclusive buckets of conversation – so you’ll only be able to pick one. They can be selected from a dropdown menu as you draft a Topic. Yes, there’s a reservoir for The Flood. You still have the ability to apply tags to each post, but you won’t be able to use the official tags that drive the Categories.
Please Note: Older topics will still straddle multiple categories. New ones won't.
We’re dark (again) bro. One or two of you may have mentioned that they missed the smoky aesthetic of the old and busted Bungie.net. We can’t imagine why, but we love you way too much to let such polite feedback float away on the breeze. To turn out your respective lights, visit the Display options on the Settings page under your profile. That should hold you over until the end of the beta.
Please Note: You may find holes in the new dark theme. Keep Calm and Report to #Feedback.
If you crave every last detail, here’s the rest of the changes (some large, some small):
-you can now filter the Activity feed by the people you’re following
-the Social feed on the front page displays the entire entry
-the autocomplete no longer returns duplicate users
-email addresses are now a hidden value on your profile page
-when you sign out of your account on the profile page, it goes away
-links on the careers page have been fixed
-fixed the display for all time latest topics
-the navigation bar for the mobile view scrolls when zoomed in
-Ninjas can edit replies to official posts
-a new menu for Display Options is available in Settings
-the reply button now appears when you access a forum reply via permalink
-issues with capitalized file extensions for embedded have been fixed
-the FORUMS link at the top of the display leads to the Categories menu
-forum titles are now active links that refresh the Topic index
That’s all for now, and that’s enough. This was not the first to update to Bungie.next. It won’t be the last. We’re still tinkering with the controls on the bridge, and there are still items on your wish list that are being made real. Some fixes just take longer than others.
Keep the chatter coming. Let us know how the new changes impact your experience.

I know there has been alot of discussion about chronological order. It takes some getting used to, but newer at the top is actually crazy helpful once you have read most of the comments to keep up with a conversation.

>dark theme >Categories Thanks! Just thought I'd leave this here. When viewing a post, the background is still white. :D #feedback
-
>categories Thank you based Bungie.

A major fix that needs to happen with notifications: When you click them, it takes you to some broken page with only the reply shown, and only the most recent one in the reply chain. This is unacceptable, and supremely confusing. The whole thread should be visible, with the notifcation taking you to the reply chain in question.

Edited by Mitochondrion: 1/25/2013 11:13:10 PMI think that someone may've mentioned this, but the banner at the top of the page will stay at the top for the dark scheme not the light scheme. May wanna fix that so that it will still scroll down on dark scheme so one doesn't need to scroll to the top to access the options.

Man, thank you so much for the dark theme. If I could make a suggestion to how the posts are sorted: Can the most popular posts not be shown first? I think it's a good feature to have, but I think having it default will prevent some other, newer discussions from popping up. Just my two cents.

Lovin' the dark theme, too bad it's touchy about working all the time. A refresh usually does the trick though.
-
Thank you so much for the dark theme! <3

Loving the dark.
-
So far this isn't applying to viewing specific threads?
-
My eyes thank your dark theme~

Edited by Velocithon: 1/25/2013 8:58:55 PMActually, why isn't the dark theme applied in Groups? Bug or no? edit: Ok so, apparently doing a complete refresh will activate the dark theme in groups. However, it keeps going back and forth between the white and dark themes. :/ I guess it takes time? edit2: I wouldn't mind an option for users to pick which filters they want by default. Right now, it's "popular" and "week". Personally, I always like seeing the "latest" and "all time" or "year" first. Being able to choose a default set of filters would be nice.

The dark theme is not even dark. It is still ugly and blinding. Avatars need to be bigger. Pages needed to be added back to threads. Thread posts need to be in chronological order. Seriously, why the hell would I want to see the end of a conversation at the begining of a thread?

The dark theme is hawt.

Thank you so much for the update DeeJ!

I gave feedback regarding the option to remove the "you are now leaving B.net" pop-up and the forum category update. I hereby claim credit for these fixes. Everyone is welcome. :)
-
Why is the dark theme not the original colour, I don't particularly like this light grey, sorry. I checked the RGB colours: R: 21 G: 22 B: 24
-
"polite feedback" clearly deej you are not reading ALL of the feedback left.... or you just dont really want to say what your thinking... haha

Wow, quite an amazing change. Glad I could help. ;)

Thanks for the dark theme bungie.
-
I'm pretty happy with the site now. I can get used to this.
-
Oh, and I just noticed another change you forgot to mention... There are now more reasons to choose from when hiding a topic.

Edited by Mr Underhill: 1/25/2013 6:40:38 PMNice to see that you are listening to the users. All I really want now is title bars, but I'm not going cray over that. Other companies would have ignored feedback due "artistic integrity" *Cough cough "Bioware" Cough cough*

The forum groups thing is great. I also love the fact that there's a dark theme, though I'd honestly like it to be considerably darker, almost black. I'll still be using my own custom theme as it's still that bit easier on the eyes IMO, though a dark theme without requiring third-party plug-ins is obviously ideal. One question I have: am I supposed to get a group request notification every time someone joins a group I founded? The group is open to all and doesn't require approval, yet each notification seems to be a group join request. The group's growing fairly quickly so I'm getting a decent number of notifications - yes I realise I can disable them, but I didn't think I was supposed to be seeing them at all with an open group.

Thank you for listening.
