I think the different models are a great idea. Even if they are just cosmetic. It was a nice surprise when I got my current one out of a chest on Mars.

Cosmetic, yes. That's all that Bungie could allow the starship of a "legend" to be in the sci fi adventure. Not a harbinger of destruction upon the darkness, not a scout ship to avoid asteroids, just a freaking taxi.
