The exotic weapons are cool, but not really best in slot most of the time. If pvp or pve content is really that much of a grind, stick with what you like and pick up either vanguard or crucible gear respectively. They really are comparable - minus a mostly trivial perk here and there. Bad juju is a great example of this. That gun is mediocre at best.
