But it does FEEL more like you earned it if you did the raid. I know loads of people worked real hard to get all those strange coins but, to be honest, I have never set out and farmed the weekly heroic strike or nightfall. I always get them randomly from engrams and crucible, totally randomly. So if I bought an exotic it wouldn't really feel like I "earned" it. But I do partially agree with you
