Upgrade system

Ok, so I think we all understand that the exotic upgrade system is flawed as hell. There is no debating it, no denying it, the system is flat out broken. However, I am not here to talk about that. I am here to talk about the fact that there isn't a legendary upgrade system. While it is nice to have a way to keep my exotics up to date (however flawed it may be, it works in the end) and not have to bust my ass getting new ones, I'm much more concerned with my legendaries. When I booted up my system and hopped on destiny, the first thing i noticed was that the scout rifle being sold by the crucible quartermaster was not the swaggin' Aries Nemesis X4 which i was about to purchase after finally meeting the requirements to get it, but instead new gear. Better gear. I was so pumped that i immediately grabbed a few crucible bounties and hopped in to get one of them shiny new commendations. After i had my fill of the crucible and had completed all of the bounties, I decided to look at the new gear the Titan vanguard was selling. I checked and he had these absolutely dope looking gauntlets called the Holdfast Type 1 gauntlets. I thought to myself, "Man, this just keeps getting better and better!" I went to bed that night ready to get through school the next day to play destiny. Then friday rolled around, and that's when things took a turn for the worst. As soon as i got home from school on friday I hopped on destiny and when to see what shiny new swag Xûr was selling today. I looked at the Achlyophage Symbiote, and saw that it gave more light than my Helm of Saint-14. I then noticed that you could upgrade a bunch of exotics from Xûr as well. At that exact moment, it became blindingly apparent to me that none my my gear which I had spent literally days acquiring was now officially outdated. All of it. I took to the internet, checking to see if my worst fears were correct, and it was true. There is literally not a single way to upgrade your legendary gear without replacing it with gear from new drops. However, now the legendary drop pool is huge, so theres not even close to a guarantee that you will get the same gear you had, so if you like the way your character looks, well to fricken bad because next time a DLC rolls around you're just going to have to replace it so it doesn't even matter. We may as well not even try to get the new legendary stuff it it's just going to become outdated sooner or later. So what I'm suggesting is a way to upgrade your legendaries, after you have beaten the dlc. People buy Bungie's DLC, we get to keep our swaggin gear, and look cool to boot. It's a win-win. This needs to happen, or myself and many others will just stop playing Destiny. The way it's set up makes grinding pointless, in a game which is set up to require grinding. It needs to change. - Marshal
