2 RepliesThat's not a debate, nor is he strictly speaking an average atheist. This is a hypothetical scenario dreamt up by Christian writers attempting to strawman the atheist position into such a convoluted mess of false emotional analyses, the debate itself and any attempt at a message behind it is meaningless. No intellectually honest person, religious or not, can look at this film and honestly believe it to be fair or in any way good logic. This is like using Ancient Aliens as proof of aliens, except more scripted.

If you want to see a good balanced one that I'd say is a tie, then check out his debate with the atheist philosopher Shelly Kagan about morality. Good points made on both sides.

21 RepliesStopped at the idiocy of the "Free Will" argument. By the standards of an Omnipotent deity who knows the outcome of each future even and blah blah blah, Free Will is an impossibility. You can think you have free will. But this God would already know your every decision before you were born. Free Will goes against the concept of the predetermined fate that the Christian God so welcomely declared his decree. That this Deity knew from the moment he created his garden of Eden that Adam and Eve would take from the tree of knowledge and decided that he would cast them out from paradise. That every man, woman and child after would be punished for this transgression. That he would send his own son to teach these children of his greatness and that his son would die. This God already declared that he knew everything. And if he knows everything, then the Freedom of choice is as much a lie as him being a benevolent deity. End of story. Apologetics and Evangelicals are among the most idiotic religious people and that in itself is an amazing acomplishment.
