Been banned from matchmaking for modding, cheating, boosting, being a jerk? Post about it and how it was your little brother's fault here. Other threads about this subject can be locked and posters may end up as residents in the official Bungie.net version of Banadu.
Warnings were given:
The Bad News First
From July 3rd Weekly Update
Recently, we’ve seen a moderate influx of things appearing in File Shares that don’t belong there. Some this is just tweaked content from Halo 3 that has been uploaded in sundry and illegal fashions. In fewer cases, there have been a relatively small number of incidents of folks uploading inappropriate non-game content to the File Share.
Fair warning: Users who have modified content on their File Share - regardless of who created said content - will be subjected to the full power of the Banhammer’s thrust. This includes some never-before-unleashed technology that will effectively terminate your Halo multiplayer experience online in every imaginable facet. In fact, the ban is so thorough that simply calling it the Banhammer is a complete understatement. I just couldn’t come up with a more hyper-exaggerated term that had the same feel. Banplatform? Banpocalpyse? Banmageddnon? None of those did the trick.
Punishments are metered.
Justice is served.
Why so harsh? Because ultimately, the potential blowback for something like Fileshare is pretty grand. The Fileshare is not to enable players to put up whatever they want and think it's hilarious, regardless of how harmful or harmless you think it is.

I thought of a new name.. the BanBush.. the war on terror throughtout the Bungie Community. And I can't really read all of the posts, but for you people that pay a huge amount for a Console, for the Halo 3 game. and then pay on top £39.99 per year for Xbox live just so they can come onto Halo 3's Multiplayer to Violate the Code of Conduct just so the money they spent just for a specific game, like i did, to get Banned, permanantly or even for 2 weeks. I see no point why you players want to ruin the experience for others, and ultimately, themselves. Just play the game, have fun, invite your friends. and enjoy the experience.

the bright yellow text hurt my eyes

Excellent!!
Posted by: xianoa why is this unpinned?
Why can't we report any of the posts? I don't know.... anyway, for that completely obliterate every multiplayer thing.... is that customs then too?

why is this unpinned?

I didnt put any modded pictures on my fileshare. I've seen people getting banned before bungie announced there ban hammer so I refused to upload any modded pictures. The only pictures that I recently uploaded before I got banned were some pictures of people with recon. No names were on it, they were not downloaded from other's fileshares, they were not modded in any way.
-
Deehunter, the fileshare plus matchmaking ban is for a modded picture that you created and placed in your fileshare. If you truly believe this is an error, I would ask if you put something in your fileshare that you didn't make? Maybe you re-named it and therefore are considered the author? Nick, how do you know the cheaters weren't caught? The punishment is a XP ban. How would know if this has happend to them or not?

I've never had a need to manipulate the connects nor am I able to. And I didnt have any modded content on my fileshare.
-
mostly manipulation of connection and modded content on fileshares.
-
I was not banned multiple times. I was banned from match making, files shares, and screenshots all together.
-
There should be an achievement for how many times you have been banned from matchmaking.
-
What would be a normal occasion for a user to be banned from matchmaking and fileshares? The most common ban case I have been seeing is that users have been banned from only there fileshares.
-
Good call then, yes. Good call.
-
I would rather revive this then make a new thread about me being banned.
-
...You revived this thread after two months? Huh... I was looking for it :).
-
Posting here again. Recently I felt the true impact of being banned from matchmaking and file shares in one big burst. I would attempt to defend myself for the reason I was banned but I don't think bungie would see me any different then the millions of people that post in this thread attempting to appeal there ban. But I would rather attempt then do nothing. Its been about 4 months since I have been a victim of the ban hammer and didn't attempt to defend myself since I was no different then any other person that is banned. Until today when I actually needed to take a screenshot and when a bunch of my friends got together to play match making. I was left out. Or when something really awesome occurred in campaign and I was unable to share it with the communities I'm in.And then the new maps are coming out that I am very eager for are soon to come out. But will never get the full experience out of them. But during being banned and all I never got to figure out why exactly I was to get banned. I was aware that bungie didnt allow mods on there fileshare but I only had 2 or 3 pictures of people with recon armor. No names were shown. No gamertags were specified. Just pictures of people with recon armor since back then, recon was the one thing that meant bungie would prioritize a person for there true abilities and skills. Something that will now never happen to me. Posting in this thread cant really bring any attention to any bungie employees but as long as I can make sure this message exists then I can be at ease. I'm sure there is a logical explanation as to why I got banned but I'm sure my case will never be that one time that bungie will prioritize for the first time.

^I don't think a 360 can mulch a disk...
-
There should be a detailed report of why you got banned then the should ban you for like 6 months, and then youd get a second chance, after that INFA BAN!! restricted from halo forever, you put the disk inn whilst online and the 360 mulches it!!! halo dust, dont breathe this.
Posted by: SqigGelZ1 This is a problem that has effected everyone. And i guess most of us have learned to play halo in a way that is offensive to bungie. Yes by all right they can banned us. but playin a game that has been taken over by booster and people cheating. Is it wrong for us to have no want or need to play any skill ranked games, and just play with friends were the game is unstressfull in a full room? why its seen as wrong? To be honest, bungie should first fix the game of boosted account, which are clearly seen everyday! fix the problem in swat with head shots!. host having a better chance of killing you! there is way worse things to deal with The only reason experiance has become a big deal, is that update with a single ranking system in ever game you play!. which in my opinion, made the game even worse!. why not keep all the possible booster accounts in a single ranked system (team doubles) and not in every other game that is fair and lower in chance of running into booster!. My account now has suffered the rath of the hammer!. and if you take a look at my account!. there was nothing aggainst the rules in anyway!. Yes i have left games in the past. Reasons for leaving:? (boosters) (friends that have sent me invites) (and just not feeling like playing) honestly i could care less about my rank. i could care less about exp!. and frankly, my account has nothing even close to the look of an account that is big on exp i gain exp the fair way and thats it!. i have friends that join me, and im sorry if we fill up a room. but if you can't join a ranked game, and your group is as big as a big team game. then banned me for using the game for the reason it was intended for!. to have fun!. and as of today bungie is wrong no matter what arguement you against that!. yes theres a reason to banned exp boosting. but theres never a reason to banned some one for playin the game correctly!
Just to let you know, I could care less means that you do care... So did you boost? Or quit like 500 games? [Edited on 11.07.2008 4:45 AM PST]

you know the really strange thing my friend had modified the name of the walrus pic and recmemded it and he just got a warning and me i got banned rofl
-
hey dee hunter. I was perma banned cause someone hex edited my gamer tag on inappropriate screenshots. I assume then Bungie over looked the gamertag field and just banned the gamertag instead of seeing what console it came from.
-
Posted by: DEEhunter Wait. You were banned only from filshares? I got banned from matchmaking and fileshares! What could I have done that banned me from both matchmaking and fileshares and even taking screenshots?!
That specific ban is for creating modded content and putting it in your filrshare. If you downloaded someone else's modded stuff, changed the name of it, and then put it in your fileshare, it is considered created by you. [Edited on 10.24.2008 5:22 AM PDT]

Aw yes...I was sent there once. It was while I was still just a silly adolescent searching for a purpose. This is not easy for me to admit....but I modded. I modded for Halo 2. The flying warthog, the sniping battle rifle, the ridiculous speed at which I ran, the high I got from jumping 3000 feet in the air.....yes, I was a modder. I was sent to Banadu. It was not fun. I am thankfully over these days and now realize Halo is just that; Halo. A video game. No one cares about my level and no one cares about my cut little symbol. I plaez 4 fun naow! N0 CHEET FOUR MEH!

Wait. You were banned only from filshares? I got banned from matchmaking and fileshares! What could I have done that banned me from both matchmaking and fileshares and even taking screenshots?!
