What is the name of the main character of Marathon?

The main character has no name. He is merely is referred to as the Security Officer.

Eddings is not the Security Officer. However, Sgt. Eddings went down into the pyramid in 1994. The first mention of Battledriods (i.e. the prototypes of the Mjolnir Mark IV cyborg we know the Security Officer to be) was in 2194. That is a difference of 200 years. The Battledriods were created by recycling dead soldiers. It seems impossible that Sgt. Eddings would have still been alive, much less capable of fighting and dying in a war 200 years after he emerged from the temple in the Yucatan.
