So I think I'm going to do a couple of these stream-of-conscious threads. I like knowing that my view on things is not universal, and I feel like attempting to understand other views is a good brain exercise. For a while now, I've preached about how I believe every human has an innate narcissism in them that embodies some of the body's functions and the our psychology. Now at first, you may want to say "oh well I'm not narcissistic," to which I ask, isn't that being a little self-centered to remove yourself from a label that normally possesses a negative connotation, when I'm placing that label on [i]every human[/i]? (Inb4loadedquestion) Regardless if you believe you are narcissistic or not, I think this becomes more obvious in "do or die" scenarios, where you can save your life or save another's. Now think about this for a second. [b]When asked, most people will elect the more "noble" option of saving somebody, but is that what they will actually [i]do[/i]? Ask yourself that question. When it comes time, are you sure you're going to be thinking about nobility? What about the bystander effect? [/b] Delving further into this, I also believe that everyone is very judgmental, whether it is explicitly or implicitly, and that this innate narcissism is the cause of this, and a blinding factor. Once again, we have a term with a [i]negative connotation[/i] attached to it, judgmental. And once again, if asked if you are judgmental, most will lean towards the "more accepted" answer of no. But how true is this? When you walk down the street and you see a homeless man, does that man embody the same presence in your mind as a man who is tending to his lawn? Is it a fair judgment to make to be less trusting of the homeless man? Do you try to avoid the man who's mowing his lawn like you do the homeless man? Does a "fair" (fair being fair in [i]your[/i] mind) judgment disqualify you from being described as judgmental? Now I realize that the population on this website comes in all different colors, shapes, and sizes, but the one undeniable trait we all share, is we perceive the world from our own body. Whatever is chiefly reinforced in said perception, is going to be more easily accepted than something that is rarely perceived. [b]So, in short, do [i]you believe[/i] are we all narcissistic, judgmental, cynical creatures? And if so, why do we consider some people as better than others? If not, do you believe yourself to be better than other people, say for instance, the cynical, judgmental, narcissists?[/b]
