So the last time I played Destiny was march 4th (only to play with a friend), I lost all interest in this game due to it's limited multiplayer and lacking, repetitive campaign. I'm part of the fan-base that believes Destiny was a huge disappointment. I didn't buy any of the DLC because I didn't want to waste any more money on this game.
However I have heard that Taken Kings is essentially Destiny 2.0 and is a massive improvement over the base game. This is why I'm making this topic, is Taking Kings worth getting?
My main issues with the base game were:
CAMPAIGN
The repetitive campaign that consisted mostly of "Defend me whilst I zap this object" and running through the same parts of the map you have seen hundreds of times to get to the linear path to fight an enemy or enemies who's difficulty is determined not by skill but by how much health said enemy has.
EXPLORATION
There is no Exploration. You can't go even slightly off the beaten path without being killed by a death wall. The most the base game can offer in terms of exploration is finding the gold chests which is a pathetic excuse for exploration. There aren't any structures or cave formations you can travel through without them being part of a side quest or mission. The only place you can really explore is in the Vault of glass. there is so much empty space created you can explore and most of it give you nothing.
MULTIPLAYER
Multiplayer annoyed me the most. I have already made topics about this before. We should be allowed to choose what game-modes we want without having to wait for it to be unlocked over the weekend or for a special event. For instance I enjoy Salvage, it's fairly fun and very competitive yet I can't play it until it gets unlocked over the weekend which I generally work on (Iron banner is an exception much like Bungie day was in Halo). It didn't matter much because you only got two variants to choose from; King of the hill(s) and slayer/team slayer.
There are also so few vehicles to choose from and even at that they are all single seated vehicles on a game that's based around teamwork. Fantastic.
Has the Taken Kings DLC fixed any of this? Is there enough content in the Taken kings to justify it costing the price of a full game? Do you still need to read the grimoire cards to get the story? (Such a stupid idea)
I really do want to come back to Destiny but if it's going to cost me £40 it had better be damn good.
I want your honest opinions based on my rant/question. Do you think I should buy the DLC or do you think that what I want isn't going to come to fruition and I should just continue to not play this game?
