What are the official pronunciations of the names of the Covenant?

I've always wondered exactly how to pronounce the names. Some of them seem fairly simple, but I'm curious exactly how they were intended to be said. For those who don't know, here are the names of the Covenant species: Unggoy - Grunt Kig-Yar - Jackal Huragok - Engineer Yanme'e - Drone Lekgolo - Hunter Jiralhanae - Brute Sangheili - Elite San' Shyuum - Prophet

 • Well in Halo Wars, I remember Serena saying "Designation - Jirahanae, responsible for the attack on Harvest." She pronounced it "Shi - Rel - Hon - Eh" Anyway, isn't there an audiobook of Ghosts of Onyx with all the correct pronounciations in? I remember there was a section of the book with all the Covenant names in.

 • This is what I say: Un-goy - Grunt Kigg-Yahr - Jackal Hoo-ra-gock - Engineer Yahn-may - Drone Leck-goh-low - Hunter Jih-rull-ah-nay - Brute Sang-hay-lee - Elite San Shee-oom - Prophet
Posted by: Lord Snakie
Posted by: Wolverfrog Jiralhanae - Shi - Rel - Hon - eh
I always thought it would be something like: Jiralhanae- Jir - Al - Ha - Nay I suppose it's a flaw of mine, I always make it out to be exactly as it's spelled. Ah well. Yours sounds cooler, anyway.
I believe one of the Prophets pronounced it as "Jih-rull-ah-nay" in Halo 2 at some point. I could be wrong, but I'm trusting what I think I heard.

 • Some of them are pretty straightforward, but for the more complex ones I say- Yan- me = Drone Ji-ral- ha-nee = Brute Un- goy = Grunt San- shy-unn = Prophet I've always said Hunters Leg-oko though, it might me wrong, but it's stuck in my brain now =) As far as official ways to say them, I don't know if there are any...
