They said we would be experiencing a Festival of the Lost Style event, so maybe this is a part of it?

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/123598/20160112/bungie-teases-big-plans-for-2016-are-destiny-players-headed-to-mercury-in-the-dawning-event.htm this website has details on the days of the dawning event, i would assume the dawning is the event the size of the festival of the lost and they also said something larger than anything we have seen since the taken king. I assume this would be the new expansion.
