Matchmaking Update - 2/19/2016
[b]Crucible Warriors,[/b]
[url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/192373140/0/0]Earlier this week[/url], we announced the deployment of new matchmaking settings intended to reduce lag and set you against opponents with a good connection. Feedback on performance has been positive, so we are continuing to make improvements. This is fine tuning. If you enjoyed the new settings we deployed on Wednesday, it's likely you'll still have a good time.
Testing of new settings will continue throughout this weekend in [b]Control[/b]. Get in there and sample the level of competition, as well as the gameplay quality. Be sure to tell us what you think. Even if all you do is play, the data you're feeding us is golden.
Our goals are still to provide some good, clean, stable fun that can be enjoyed by players at every skill level - even if they play on the same team. It's a delicate balance to strike. Thanks for your continued participation in the process.

2 RepliesWhy dont you make it so that theres not one weapon that is everyones go to exp: Mida or last word also along with this the people that oh so is a 1v1 gun fight and instead they pull their sniper out 10 feet away. You see more and more people running Mida, sniper or last word, sniper or the best that shows their gun game is weak no land beyond, sniper and the sniper is always 1000 yard. I use my sniper when needed and I dont use hand cannons so I'm always up for a good gun fight but when you have these non gun game that choose to sit back and camp hard scoping everywhere. It's now to the point that I and most of my clan dont even play destiny anymore why play when you can call the guns people are going to use.

7 RepliesDeej, i have not EVER been able to get a fire team to do a raid. I really want to do kings fall but i cant. I dont have a mic so no one will join. Cant do trials either. Any advice? Please help me with this somehow. Please deej, please.

The PvP love is real. Only mention PvE got in the update was that daily heroic rewards would be broken for a little while. Gimme a reason to come back to this game, put in a consistent hardcore PvE event with some unique loot. Queens wrath was actually a decent start, it just needed some tweaking. No reason to abandon it altogether (well, other than story now)

3 RepliesWish you would have fixed it in trials. It sucks to be at 7-0 or 8-0 and lose an hours worth of hard crucible play because some red-bar has host.

What's this thing you call Skirmish? What's this thing you call Classic? What's this thing you call IB? What's this thing you call Trials? Huh, must be something you guys plan on adding in future updates or something, huh? For the love of -blam!-ing Christ, you guys are truly grinding my gears currently. You are getting data only in CONTROL. You are blatantly ignoring the complaints that your more competitive players are telling you about. The Lag isn't focused in Control, no. Whoever told you that straight -blam!-ing lied to you and I know you know this since you guys read the -blam!-ing Forum Topic's. The Lag is focused primarily in Skirmish, Classic and Trials (with IB having been "fixed" but not with this new setting you inputted). Are you guys serious right now? We've told you countless times, have made countless videos, it has been discussed in countless streams, in countless YouTuber's videos and what do you guys do again? You shove your fists right up our asses and feed us the shit inside. Seriously?

lag in trials cost me this weekend! this game is broken! raid broken, trials broken, ib broken! we pay good money to have internets that can play online games yet... say a trials run can be -blam!-ed up by a -blam!-wit using a -blam!-in mexican mcdonalds connection! get this through you thick -blam!-in heads bungie..... -blam!- control! all you game modes that people actually try and play are -blam!-in broken! fix your god awfull game!

I know I'm not the only one. My friends list rarely shows any destiny action anymore. Which likely explains your "improvement". When nobody plays the servers aren't taxed.

10 RepliesHave you considered moving to the Microsoft Cloud setup that games such as Forza 5 are using? Any improvements on the current system are appreciated, but I doubt they will be near enough to get most of my old friends back on a new Destiny release. And I think it sucks that most players in crucible that experience lag are playing with friends in fireteams and in party chat with friends from other parts of their country or the world, yet this does not occur to them as a possible cause of lag. How are you supposed to restrict who we team up with? I'm sure you could be mean by setting a maximum latency time for connections and kicking off all our friends who weren't up to snuff. And yeah, we would likely see a huge improvement. But I doubt anyone else would agree to it. I hope these changes can help us reconnect with those parts of the community lost to such matters. Thanks for a great game.

Have not experienced any lag in control after you changed the settings. It works really well for me.

They should ban the staff doing lag and crucible cheaters and Osiris several teams with lag lead report and do nothing. many friends already left destiny and I will also and more friends vain do sorry bad english

can't believe how many guys are whining about crucible. actually sbmm is just a memory. actual pvp playlists are connection based. they are trying to improve it because is not clear how the algorithm takes care about host, each member of the team or the average of the connection quality each player has. i noticed that playing solo there is a huge difference. i play only against guys with good connection (im lucky to have a optic fibre) and i met top tier players as well really bad pvplayers. i enjoyed to win and lose i dont care but at least i played in regular matches. things change dramatically when i tried to play together with my friends -some of them having a poor ADSL connection- and then i was brought back to the lag hell. simply unplayable. so SBMM is not working anymore and im happy of this. to all top tier streamers and twitchers and youtubers: its normal you often find top tier players because crucible is connection based not skill based. its kinda probable that most of you to get and keep your top players position you have a strong good quality connection. (not arguing about your skills of course ok?). i just wish bungie will improve the algorithm to make possible players with different connection quality to play together. otherwise we have to say goodbye to team based crucible and play only as lonely wolves. btw thanks bungie for your efforts to make our crucible experience better [i]~peace & love :3[/i]

God help me. I just sat through 3 games of watching people blink all over the map...to bad it wasn't a class blink just your crappy servers doing whatever they wanted. It's hard to continue to play this game and defend it when I'm at my limit. No content a long with poorly executed patches. Breaking guns and then forcing us to rely on meta just because you're lazy and won't fix anything. I'm done with ranting I guess

Yeah i think the lag is the worst its ever been now. Year 1 was heaps better connection wise with the entire game. Not just pvp but pve as well.

25 RepliesI swear something changed back the day after you posted this. The games are back to being laggy, sweaty, and not fun. As a top 1% player, I constantly go against people 1.80 and up for kd. Not to mention, trying to deal with that and red bar at the same time. For the love of god, quit trying to make us look stupid. The community knows when it's sbmm.... you didn't change anything. And if you did, we aren't noticing any difference. Make it ONLY CBMM.......

I've played probably 10 ish games of Control this weekend, mostly okay ish. I did play a game yesterday where 5/6 of the enemies were Red Baring the hell out, connection still favours them some how as well. I shoot, there health doesn't budge, all of a sudden I'm dead and there seems to be no reasonable explanation why. I have also experienced the "two shot" from full health which utterly confused me as I was at full health. tl;dr Mostly passable, when connection is bad however it SUCKS.

So haven't played this game in days. The 18th was literally perfect. The feedback from the community as a whole was great. I play the day of the new patch and again today it's still a laggy sbmm mess of things. Again. Go back to what you did the 18th so we can have fun playing this game and not have to sweat everygame without ranked and league play. Or. Give us ranked and league play with customs and a social playlist.

Let's also get rid of SBMM and just use regional MM outside of Trials and Iron Banner. Most of the problems that everyone is upset with are coming from you, Bungie, and not with each other. Also, stop with the damage ref bullshit as well - it's just an excuse to try and better the connections without you guys actually doing anything for a real fix. If your sequel is as lazy and poorly handled as this game, I'm not even going to buy it. For the first time I'm not going to preorder or trust you guys due to how badly you've screwed the game AND the community up.

1 ReplyDestiny isn't fun at the moment. I stopped playing about 2 weeks ago because of all the lag, lack of content and other issues...jumped on today to help a friend with trials and it's as bad if not worse than it was when i stopped playing 2 weeks ago. You guys at bungie have made so many screw ups and deceived this community so much it's a wonder people still play, I've played this game since october 2014 and I've loved and defended it...but even im at my limit now. I started playing black ops 3 the other week (never really been a cod fan but thought I'd try it while taking a break from destiny) and to be honest the pvp in black ops 3 is leaps and bounds ahead of destiny, when i came back to destiny today i hated it...it felt so slow and unbearable to play. Untill such a time as new content is released, lag and pvp if fixed, dedicated servers are installed and the game brought up to 60 fps (which is unlikely till destiny 2 i know) i won't be coming back to destiny...at this point it just fails to measure up to any currently released game, which is a shame because destiny was pretty much the only game i played throughout 2015. Signed, Previously loyal but now disheartened destiny fan.
