I would like to get an overall understanding of how the #OffTopic user base(both old and new) view this forum. Do you enjoy being here? If you don't, what keeps you from having a positive experience? Think of this as a kind of feedback thread. What improvements would you like to see here?

Once you understand what it is, #OffTopic is fine. If you've come here for high-minded intellectual conversation, you probably lament how lowbrow this forum is. If you've come here because you think this is an anything-goes, /b/-style free-for-all, you probably complain about the moderators being too strict. If you've come here for some lighthearted humor, casual discussion with gamers about non-gaming things like your favorite cars or movies, memes that are so dumb they're funny, or just reading through comments from normal gamer-type people about current events, you're probably pretty happy with the state of the forum. Of course, if you're happy with things, you're probably not going to post here ;-)

Edited by DTL: 5/8/2016 4:25:47 PMOfftopic right now is like walking into a bar and hearing the funniest fart jokes you've heard in your life. At first you're like "holy shit, this place is hillarious" and you decide to stop by more frequently. You get to know the regulars and have a bunch of laughs. And you start to consider the place "your" hangout. Only it isn't long before you start to hear the same fart jokes over and over. Everyone is so impressed with other people's fart jokes that they feel they need to join in and only tell fart jokes too. The whole place is one fart joke circle jerk after another. And one day you look around and realize that the jokes aren't funny anymore. And you yearn to hear an actual discussion, or inspiring idea, or anything that isn't the same shit you heard the day before. But that doesn't happen. It's just the same thing day after day. But by now you've become so accustomed to the place and gotten to know everyone so well that you don't want to go find another bar. So you come back, sulk into your chair, stare off into your beer.. and hope each day that everyone else around you gets tired of the fart jokes too eventually.

This is where I get my news about the outside world

I feel like this is the only place my life isn't worthless. Except it still is.
-
I think Offtopic needs a change
-
I go here when I'm bored
-
I really like it here, actually. It's a nice place to ignore my problems if life gets a bit too stressful.

This place was the shit when I was in high school 12 years ago. Now there's not much it can give me in terms of entertainment because the user base is mostly high schoolers. Traffic has also increased to the point that threads are kicked down to the second and third page in minutes. That used to take hours. Not really for me anymore but I like dropping by to see how things have progressed

I don't like all the new faces :(
-
bans make me :(
-
I just come here seeking entertainment. Nothing else.

Off-Topic could be an enjoyable place. Unfortunately it's filled with trolls and people who will try to ruin your experience here. If you don't have a thick skin, you won't last a month in this place. Of course, there are some pretty decent people here :)

I've lost so much brain matter from being here, I can't even think of a decent description of my feeling for this place.

Mildly amusing and mildly spicy. With a pinch and a half of salt. Mix that with a few crackers and w(h)ine aged 12-14 years. #offtopic
-
Honestly I haven't seen anyone besides myself post a quality thread in at least a year.
-
I usually come here for a good laugh from time to time, and I'm seldom disappointed. Though I wish there were more threads with actual community substance, and not just bizarre, offtopic stuff. But I lurk for the gems.

Eh, it passes the time.

Edited by Cobravert: 5/11/2016 10:01:10 PMQuite simply it is a habit. But the forum itself was lost at the creation of B.next. Then everyone had to mind their manners in ways that are no longer needed to remain above the ban hammer. That made the site better overall, for you had to be creative to be divisive. Now, it's throw crap all over and no one cares or cleans it up. I miss locked threads. It let you know things were being tended.

I'm pretty new here. I like the feel, but I can't help but feel a bit jealous when I hear people talking about what it used to be like...
-
It makes me sad
-
It was better back in 14.

This whole "community" blows.
