there are so many posts saying "Thorn needs a buff! It's garbage!" which is true. but..... [spoiler]ALL PRIMARIES NEED A BUFF[/spoiler]
but I think I know how to fix the mark of the devourer perk. instead of a consistent stream of the same damage, we could have the perk become less powerful over time. for example, say you land a shot. The burn starts off doing 5 damage, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1. i don't know the exact numbers on the current and past burn damage, but imo this would make the thorn balanced again

What is this gun designed to be? I'm not saying it should be what it was in year 1 but FOR AN EXOTIC Primary this weapon doesn't have a great deal of impact. Honestly, it feels more like a support weapon than anything else. I'd expect an exotic primary to give you something to smile about. IMO, it should be the Mida of Hand Cannons in terms of impact and people having to pay attention to you in a pvp match. But from my experience, it's far from that. Again, feels more like a support weapon, which sidearms just tend to be better weapons IMO. For starters they need to address all hand cannons. The phantom bullet problem needs to be addressed. I also think the body shot damage is really the issue. It's too low. Head shot to me doesn't need a buff. It's the damage over time on the body shots that need a buff. Finally, when Bungie announced the Memory of Silimar my initial thought was Thorn should be pretty deadly and you'd need to equip this in order to minimize it. But you don't even need Silimar to combat it. They just made a new artifact and made it pretty minimal in crucible.

I think they should add more bloom to thorn because, in my experience the bloom is absolute cheap right now.

I just wish they didn't hand it to us in year 3. Used to be the King, and rightfully so because it actually took work to obtain. Soloing that Xyor strike is my proudest accomplishment in this game, I loved my hard-earned superweapon!

imo mark of the devourer isn't the problem with Thorn. the problem is the absolute garbage range due to the range nerf (which was uncalled for as the gun was in a good place)

First of all, Bungie, RANGE!!! Just, why? Second of all, the burn effect the you suggested would work perfectly! Fixing the range and adding that burn effect would put it in the top tier again without it being actually overpowered.

They cant balance anything in multi. Its an afterthought they jus copy call of duty game modes and ask them for help. Bungie is incompetent

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who realizes that pre April update thorn was the best and most balanced all around thorn especially with the new artifact even more now

The DoT on Thorn IMO should not be used for extra damage, but to keep health re-gen from happening. Keep the DoT at 2 where it is now but increase the length of it. Oh, and give it back its range. That was a needless nerf.

I like the idea, but if you were to add up the damage you suggested from 3 shots, you'd end up with 15 damage. With 3 body shots and the extra burn, it would do 53+53+53+45, which is 204 damage. So naturally...there'd be some complaining. But I like your general idea

If they could make it tick slower it would make it a formidable primary, now it ticks so fast which allows the guardian to recover shields faster

Or they can make thorn act like a high impact type. If 2 shots are to the head it will leave very little health left over thanks to the burn. Then maybe 4 shots to the body for a burn kill.

omg ALL primaries do NOT need a buff lol... i don't think all the people asking for this understand what they are really asking for... the ttk will drop to a crazy low rate on some guns if you buff ALL of them... The root of all this is pretty simple... shotguns with or without Juggernaut... more specifically the "matador archetype" i don't think they really need a nerf... rather i think ALL the shotguns need to be reworked so that there isn't just one crazy strong archetype while the rest are just useless...

It got a 25% nerf to it's base range that either A. needs to be un-nerfed, or B. buffed so it's less than what it was but more than what it is now. Also, it currently does 2 damage ticks from the MotD perk.
