Today the development team is making a few changes to Matchmaking settings with the goal of improving your experiences in the Crucible. Here is a quote straight from the team with some details about what is being changed.
[quote]
We’ve made a change to the Matchmaking system in an effort to increase match quality. Our specific goal is to reduce the number of matches that begin before they fill up with players. To achieve this, we are expanding the available skill-range for other players earlier and more aggressively. We will also be looking for lower-latency matches for longer than before. Essentially, this puts a stronger bias on connection quality, with less emphasis on skill matching. This may result in slightly longer matchmaking times in some cases. For some of you, this could mean that you’ll be matched with opponents well outside of your skill range. We hope the tradeoff is worth it to improve the Crucible ecosystem in general.
As always, our work in designing a Crucible experience that serves all players is never finished. Be sure to let us know what you experience out there. Our forum, just like our game, is a constant source of great feedback.

These changes are now live in all playlists*. After you play some games with the new settings, feel free to post in this thread with any feedback you have. Let us know what you think.

Not seeing as many red bars so good job on that. However, games are so inconsistent that I can't tell if I'm playing like poop or getting pub stomped. Same goes for when I'm wrecking, either I'm on fire or doing the pub stomp....

While I am happy to hear change to the system I was hoping it would be more about skill than connection because while I do have good internet I sometimes get match makes with luminosity equivalents, because of this it does not feel fair as that match is not fun and I'm sure I am not the only person with this problem

Changes are still great!

Edited by Frankb594: 12/25/2016 12:51:33 AMCrucible is no longer fun to me anymore since the update. When they make it where casual players constantly are getting stomped, they (casual players) stop playing. That only leaves the better players and eventually it's going to get more and more sweaty. I'm very average and I'm playing less and less since the latest update.

It is definitely the worst it has ever been. I mean that in regards to no fewer red bars as well as more lopsided matches. 6 V 6 is seldom 6 V 6, it's often a 4 V 5 or 4 V 6 and due to the tier 1 layers being mixed in, people are much more quickly to leave the game. I've never seen this many lopsided scores before. You absolutely need to undo what you just did.

Getting put into a match mid game and then immediately spawn farmed by 4 supers is -blam!-ing great...good game. No wonder Activision is peddling this garbage game and infinite warfare in a bundle.

So I come back to Destiny after a long break, new account and everything. I saw this post and got excited for like 15 seconds, until I read the comments saying that this isn't true. Can someone please corroborate if this is true or not? I've read some comments saying that is gone and other that its still there.

Awful.
-
If anything the connections in my lobbies have been worse than ever. I came back from 2 months off hoping that something had changed for the better but nope, just worse connections lol

Edited by Leviathan369: 12/24/2016 7:45:14 PMI would rather have half full matches with all green bar players than you stuffing in a few lagging a$$clowns to fill the lobby.
-
Success, now the try hard YouTube pansies are posting 40 kill montages..
-
This is complete bullshit! If anything the match making has gotten worst -blam!- bungie -blam!- this game
-
You bunch of lazy f.ucks sort the -blam!-in lag out
-
Why does bungie stack matches towards the 50 50 won lose crap?
-
Cozmo, what do you consider "low latency?" I am not whinging. Total curiosity. I have no idea what to believe to be honest. I've read anything below 100 is good, and I believe that to a certain extent because I am often selected to be the fireteam leader when I solo pvp. But I have heard that you want to be below 50 to have good latency. So what does Bungie feel is "good latency"? I'd rather hear from you guys than from very salty players.
